As the leftist hysteria over the scary-sounding “Omicron variant” continues, so do school closures. Supported more by liberal tears and Covid tyrant pearl-clutching than any real science, thousands of schools across the country have closed.
4738 schools, to be exact, according to reporting on school closures from Just the News.
Those closures are happening despite Team Brandon’s pleas for the schools to remain open.
Speaking during a Wednesday press conference, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters:
“As the President said yesterday, he wants schools to be open. We know they can be open safely, and we’re here to help make that happen. And he agrees with medical, scientific, and education experts that, because of the historic work we’ve done, we are more than equipped to ensure schools are open.”
She also said:
“So, long story short: We want schools to be open, the President wants them to be open, and we’re going to continue to use every resource and work to ensure that’s the case.”
Despite her pleas, the lazy members of America’s teacher’s unions are doing everything possible to return to online “learning,” and again postpone returns to in-person classes.
Chicago’s public schools, for example, announced a return to online classes, as did thousands of other public schools around the nation.
In addition to coming despite Brandon’s feeble pleas, those school closures are happening despite the billions in funding ($130 billion) he provided for them to reopen and a CDC approval for younger kids to get the jab.
Regardless of all that Brandon has done to keep them open, schools are closing, citing the massive jump in Omicron cases as the reason why.
So, if new cases do level off by the end of January, as is expected, then perhaps schools will reopen then. Or, perhaps lazy teachers will find yet another excuse for not doing their jobs.
If the past two years should have taught us anything, it’s that government-employed teachers really hate those few months of the year where they have to show up and teach. Once this is all over, that will need to be rectified.
