Leftists don’t just want you to have to pay the legal bills of illegal immigrants that, as their name says, aren’t even supposed to be in America. They also want to give those illegals the right to be here; now 33 of the wokest Democrat Senators (there are 50 Democrat Senators total) are pushing for mass amnesty.
That’s right; 66% of the Democrat Senators want to give amnesty to illegal immigrants, putting the interests of criminals above the interests of the average American.
They’re pushing for that radical, sure to be disastrous policy by writing a letter to Blinken and Mayorkas. They begin the letter by framing the issue as a humanitarian crisis rather than an issue of rewarding criminals that came here illegally, writing:
We write to express our concerns about ongoing humanitarian needs in Central America and to appeal for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) redesignations for El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, and a new TPS designation for Guatemala. It is our assessment that the severe damage caused by back-to-back hurricanes just over one year ago, combined with extreme drought conditions, and the social and economic crises exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, warrant such an action by the Administration. The Guatemalan government has requested a TPS designation, and U.S. Embassies have issued disaster declarations for El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua in recognition of the urgent needs. TPS designations and redesignations would provide critical protections for eligible beneficiaries and enable them to support basic needs of loved ones back home and invest in safer alternatives to irregular migration. Lastly, such designations would be consistent with the Administration’s commitments to address climate migration.
And how many illegal immigrants and migrants might these radical leftists want to give such a status designation to? Well, the letter describes a million people facing some conjured up humanitarian disaster:
Over one million Central Americans have been displaced by violence and insecurity. Gender-based violence continues to be a major driver of displacement, with rates increasing dramatically throughout 2020. … Additionally, countries in the region have suffered severe democratic backsliding and political persecution is on the rise, including through the consolidation of a dictatorship in Nicaragua, the dismantling of independent judiciaries, and efforts to intimidate and silence civil society and independent media.
But that’s just new illegals. There are already millions here. As Breitbart, reporting on the massive number of illegals this might cover, writes:
Under current estimates, roughly one million Hondurans live in the United States, alongside more than one million people from El Salvador, one million people from Guatemala, and perhaps 300,000 from Nicaragua.
Millions of illegal immigrants, both on their way and here already. And the Democrats want to let them stay and legally protect them. Sounds about right for America’s radical leftists.
For reference, a TPS designation, according to the Council on Foreign Relations, “[allows] migrants from countries with unsafe conditions to reside and work legally in the United States.” And Democrats want to apply it to the millions of migrants moving up from some of the gang-ridden countries of Central America. What could go wrong?
The insane letter was signed by Robert Menendez, Chuck Schumer, Edward Markey, Catherine Masto, Elizabeth Warren, Patrick Leahy, Benjamin Cardin, Alex Padilla, Ben Lujan, Tina Smith, Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, Patty Murray, Kirsten Gillibrand, Michael Bennet, Jacky Rosen, Tim Kaine, Richard Blumenthal, Amy Klobuchar, Martin Heinrich, Chris Van Hollen, Mark Warner, Jack Reed, Dick Durbin, Thomas Carper, Chis Coons, Tammy Baldwin, Mazie Hirono, Jeffrey Merkley, Dianne Feinstein, Brian Schatz, Tammy Duckworth, and Raphael Warnock. Quite the lineup of radical leftists.
