Well, the infamous “slap” is still making tons and tons of rounds on the good ole Interwebs, with no signs of the story slowing down anytime soon, thanks in one part to actor and comedian David Spade, who is a friend of Chris Rock, deciding to weigh in on the Will Smith Oscar fiasco during the 94th annual Academy Awards.
Spade seemingly mocked the idea that Smith would get his feathers ruffled by such a mild joke delivered by Chris Rock.
“A GI Jane joke???” Spade went on to post on his Twitter account. The post exploded online, garnering almost 147,000 likes.

Here are a few more details from the fine folks at The Daily Wire:
Spade then doubled-down on his criticism of Smith, battling a critic of his own. “Why would you phrase this as ‘a GI Jane joke?’ instead of ‘a joke about a woman with alopecia’?” the Spade critic said.
“Because comedians don’t have a medical chart for everyone in the audience,” the “Tommy Boy” actor shot back. This tweet, too, went viral, pulling in some 213,000 likes.

Spade then reportedly chatted with Page Six during a Vanity Fair Oscars after-party saying, “that Smith’s attack ‘set a dangerous precedent.’”
The Daily Wire went on to point out that Jada, just a week prior to the Oscars event, “stated in a TikTok video that she loved her bald head and didn’t care what people thought, asserting, ‘I don’t give two craps what people feel about this bald head of mine. Because guess what? I love it.’”
Well, now, that can’t possibly be true. Otherwise, she would have yucked it up with Rock and even played into the joke. She definitely wouldn’t have sicced her husband on the comedian, that’s for sure.
“Being a black woman and dealing with hair in Hollywood, especially in the era I came up in, having your hair look as European as possible was always the thing,” the actress added. “That was really challenging, you know, because I liked my hair out wild and curly. But nobody wanted that, so I always had to do my hair in ways that didn’t feel natural to me because of trying to play the game.”
Smith eventually apologized for his actions Monday evening.
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” the actor stated. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about my Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”
Acted emotionally? You don’t say?
Gee, I thought getting up and slapping the hell out of a comedian for lightly poking fun of something your wife said she didn’t really care all that much about was the kind of action any reasonable, calm human being would make.
Never once did I think it was because Smith was emotional. What an eye opening statement!
Hope y’all caught that massive dose of sarcasm there, because I laid it on pretty thick.
