Well, the infamous “slap” is still making tons and tons of rounds on the Internet, with people around the world commenting their perspectives on how the event happened and whether Chris Rock or Will Smith was in the right.
One such person was a longtime friend of Chris Rock, David Spade. He slammed the weak-slapping and emotionally unstable Smith did when Chris Rock made a simple joke.
“A GI Jane joke???” Spade posted on Twitter, the tweet going viral and garnering a massive 150,000 like.

The Daily Wire. commenting yet further on the Will Smith/Chris Rock/David Spade situation, said:
Spade then doubled-down on his criticism of Smith, battling a critic of his own. “Why would you phrase this as ‘a GI Jane joke?’ instead of ‘a joke about a woman with alopecia’?” the Spade critic said.
“Because comedians don’t have a medical chart for everyone in the audience,” the “Tommy Boy” actor shot back. This tweet, too, went viral, pulling in some 213,000 likes.

Chad Prather’s site noted yet more details about the still hilarious and joke-worthy incident, noting that:
Spade then reportedly chatted with Page Six during a Vanity Fair Oscars after-party saying, “that Smith’s attack ‘set a dangerous precedent.’”
The Daily Wire went on to point out that Jada, just a week prior to the Oscars event, “stated in a TikTok video that she loved her bald head and didn’t care what people thought, asserting, ‘I don’t give two craps what people feel about this bald head of mine. Because guess what? I love it.’”
Well, now, that can’t possibly be true. Otherwise, she would have yucked it up with Rock and even played into the joke. She definitely wouldn’t have sicced her husband on the comedian, that’s for sure.
“Being a black woman and dealing with hair in Hollywood, especially in the era I came up in, having your hair look as European as possible was always the thing,” the actress added. “That was really challenging, you know, because I liked my hair out wild and curly. But nobody wanted that, so I always had to do my hair in ways that didn’t feel natural to me because of trying to play the game.”
It’s all so dumb. It was a simple, funny joke. One that deserved a chuckle from the audience, a smile from Jada Smith, and nothing more. That’s the point of these events, people get made fun of and mocked, deserving or not. It’s what makes them funny.
But Chris Rock, apparently proud to be a cuckold, just had to turn it into a scene. Yet worse, he just had to actually assault someone on TV for daring to make a kinda funny joke.
He and his cheating wife need to learn how to take and make a joke. Plus, Spade is right: jokes should be able to be made without fear that someone with a random medical condition will freak out about it.
