The sociopathic “journalist” Taylor Lorenz of the Washington Post has doxed the person behind the Twitter account Libs of TikTok. The latter has provided immeasurable service exposing disgusting and grooming behaviors of people entrusted to protect and teach our children.
As a result of this dangerous action, the account holder has had to go into hiding, where she alleges to be safe as of this writing. This egregious violation of privacy, whose sole purpose is to terrorize and silence, is beyond reproach and is simply despicable. Lorenz is an embarrassment to journalism and a disgrace of a human being.
All of this is made worse by the fact that just two short weeks ago, this same doxer gave a fake-cry interview in which she discussed the harms of going through the process herself. You cannot make up the level of depravity and hate in her heart. She experienced this firsthand, admits it is terrifying, and then gleefully subjects a private citizen and Twitter user to it because they have a different (and better) moral compass and disparate political opinions.
She is vile and loathsome. Here is Lorenz’s interview where she pretends to be the victim:
This was Taylor Lorenz a couple of weeks ago.
She was crying victim of “harassment”.
Today she tracked down and harassed family members of the @libsoftiktok account for an article she’s working on.
It turns out Taylor’s the perpetrator, not victim.pic.twitter.com/CifXGvASCV

“You feel like any little piece of information that gets out on you will be used by the worst people on the internet to destroy your life. It’s so isolating. It’s horrifying…It’s overwhelming. It’s really hard.”
Got that? The worst people will use information to destroy your life. It’s horrifying. And yet, here is Lorenz attacking this citizen and forcing her to endure the same fear, isolation, and concern for physical safety. What a monster.
Glenn Greenwald is a voice of sanity in this post-Covid world, and he offered a few takes on the issue that are spot on:
“Journalism isn’t about just exposing things for the sake of it. It’s about exposing matters in the public interest about *powerful institutions*: CIA/NSA, Wall St, oligarchs, politicians. Using Jeff Bezos’ money to expose private citizens for having bad politics is gross.”
“Is it OK for people to show up tomorrow at Taylor’s house and the homes of her relatives to ask questions about her? I have a feeling that wouldn’t be applauded, even though Taylor, unlike the Twitter user she “exposed,” is a public figure.”
“I feel confident that if a Fox crew did to Taylor what Taylor did to this citizen – show up at the homes of her relatives to dig for dirt – a national media and mental health crisis would be declared. That’s because, again, this has nothing to do with journalism: just politics.”
Amazingly, this is not the first time Lorenz has played this dangerous game. Lorenz’s interview itself was the result of reading mean tweets online after she doxed and smeared other folks deemed unworthy, including the children of prominent voices, and got called out for it. In 2018, she exposed the teen daughters of Pamela Geller. In 2021, she fabricated a story entirely to go after a Silicon Valley investor. She has a pattern of ruining, or trying to ruin, normal peoples’ lives. It makes sense; she is an elitist and looks down upon normal folks getting in her way.
In her WaPo article, Lorenz makes it clear she is out for blood from the onset. She used loaded language throughout the piece, indicating that this person deserves her readers’ hatred too. She begins her article with a heading and sub heading that read: “Meet the woman behind Libs of TikTok, secretly fueling the right’s outrage machine. A popular Twitter account has morphed into a social media phenomenon, spreading anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment and shaping public discourse.”
She continues:
“Libs of TikTok reposts a steady stream of TikTok videos and social media posts, primarily from LGBTQ+ people, often including incendiary framing designed to generate outrage. Videos shared from the account quickly find their way to the most influential names in right-wing media. The account has emerged as a powerful force on the Internet, shaping right-wing media, impacting anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and influencing millions by posting viral videos aimed at inciting outrage among the right.
The anonymous account’s impact is deep and far-reaching. Its content is amplified by high-profile media figures, politicians and right-wing influencers. Its tweets reach millions, with influence spreading far beyond its more than 635,000 Twitter followers. Libs of TikTok has become an agenda-setter in right-wing online discourse, and the content it surfaces shows a direct correlation with the recent push in legislation and rhetoric directly targeting the LGBTQ+ community.”
I have read that Lorenz has exposed herself to legal liability and should be sued. I do not know how that exactly works, but certainly hope that Lorenz faces serious consequences for her choice to go after innocent people and put them in harm’s way.
