Chris Pratt, former character on the hit show Parks and Recreation and current Marvel star Chris Pratt is not only an actor, but also an open Christian. Unlike some in Hollywood, he’s followed in the footsteps of Mark Wahlberg and Matthew McConaughey and has been open about his faith in many a social media post.
Well, Marvel fans, many of whom are on the far left, are now of course freaking out and demanding that he be fired for his faith, as ScreenRant reported, saying:
There’s a growing call for Chris Pratt to be recast as the MCU‘s Star-Lord and there are a couple of factors that lead to this petition. As part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy line-up, the actor has been playing Peter Quill/Star-Lord since 2014. But as Pratt gears up to reprise his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a social media petition has been gaining traction that asks Marvel Studios to get rid of him and recast the role of Peter Quill.
[…]As his career took off, Pratt was embroiled in a couple of personal controversies, including drawing flak for his affiliation with Hillsong Church — a high-profile church that is known for its celebrity patrons that include Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. In February 2019, the actor openly talked about taking part in a 21-day fast referenced in the biblical Book of Daniel during a guest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He also quoted his pastor saying “If the spotlight that’s shining on you is brighter than the one within you, it’ll kill you.” In response to this, Elliot Page asked Pratt to comment on the institution’s controversy involving two Hillsong Church executives making homophobic comments and dubbing homosexuality a sin in 2015.
So, because he’s Christian and his church isn’t woke enough, the leftists want him fired. Shocker. That’s what happens when you replace religion with ever woker “super heroes” and leftist gender theory.
Regardless, Pratt, who has, in any case, said that the church opens its doors to everyone, is an open Christian but wants to remain an actor, so that’s set up a problem for James Gunn, director of some of the Marvel movies: will he bow to the mob’s demands and fire Pratt, or do the right thing and risk the mob’s wrath?
In a surprising move given the far-left inclinations of many in Hollywood, Gunn did the right thing and stood up for Pratt on Twitter, blasting his insane critics and resolutely standing on Pratt’s side. He, in a tweet, said:
For what? Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him? For something that someone else told you about him that’s not true? Chris Pratt would never be replaced as Star-Lord but, if he ever was, we would all be going with him.

Gunn followed that up with a second tweet defending Pratt later on, saying:
“He isn’t. I know the church he currently goes to. Do you? (The answer is you don’t, but you heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone where he goes to church, so decided, “yeah, okay, I’ll believe this terrible thing I heard online about this celebrity!”)”
Pratt also went on the offensive against allegations of him being anti-gay, saying, in an Instagram post:
“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.
“Despite what the Bible says about divorce my church community was there for me every step of the way, never judging, just gracefully accompanying me on my walk. They helped me tremendously offering love and support. It is what I have seen them do for others on countless occasions regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender.
“My values define who I am. We need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgment of their fellow man.
“Jesus said, ‘I give you a new command, love one another. This is what guides me in my life. He is a God of Love, Acceptance and Forgiveness. Hate has no place in my or this world.”
Thus, though Marvel is generally woke, it looks like Gunn is doing the right thing and standing by Pratt. Good for him!
