Comedian Bill Burr is known for being decidedly non-politically correct. Whereas many others in his profession have taken to bending the knee whenever called upon to do so by the woke mob and the blue-haired fanatics that compose it, he won’t. Rather, he just keeps making jokes, as comedians are supposed to do.
Further, he’s even definitively stood against the woke mob and cancel culture fanatics, recently saying that he won’t apologize to someone after they get upset by a joke from a show of his that they didn’t even bother to attend.
He said as much during his recent appearance on “Steve-O’s Wild Ride” podcast. During that podcast appearance, the three co-hosts — “Jacka**” star Steve-O, Scott Randolph, and Paul Brisske — brought up the issue, asking whether he had ever apologized for one of his jokes.
Given that many of his jokes range from the non-PC to the absolutely savage (but always hilarious), it’s likely he’s pissed off quite a few people that have in turn demanded that he apologize for hurting their feelings or being offensive.
But, according to Burr, while he will offer individual apologies to those individuals that he personally hurt, he will never apologize to the mob and bow to its demands. Watch that here:
As you can hear in the video, Burr said:
“Listen, if I’m in a bad mood… Now some a**hole is going to cut that right there and say, ‘See! comedians should apologize’ because everybody’s like Fox News and CNN now like steering it, they’ll cut out all this part.
“No, if I’m in a bad mood or if I told a joke about something that somebody had a personal effect to and I made them sad or made them cry …
“You know, there’s that comic who [goes] ‘f*** you, lady, you shouldn’t have come out.’ Like, I don’t take it to that level. It’s just like … you’re right, I didn’t think of that. I didn’t know you were gonna be here tonight. What are the f***ing odds you were at that thing that I was making fun of?’ But that can happen.
“But I refuse to apologize to anybody that is upset that they heard a joke at a show they weren’t at. You know? Especially if somebody filmed it … If it’s in my special, that’s different and I decided to put it out or whatever.
“But like if it’s one of those things where someone in the crowd films you and then they put it up. It’s like ‘get mad at them!’ and you, because you saw the subject and clicked on it.
“But I’m not a believer in the mob mentality and I’m not gonna apologize just cause it’s not worth it.
“Because then all I do is give that strength that that’s okay to do that and then some other comic’s going to have to deal with it.”
“If you come up to me after a f***ing show, I’ll listen to you and if I agree with what you’re saying I’ll be like ‘yeah, alright, okay. It wasn’t a personal thing, I’m sorry.
“And what I’ve found you can — like actually, they’ll be cool with you. People, anybody, like us … They want to be heard.
“But as far as that ‘professional being offended’ so you can move whatever cause because you feel like you can fix society with your ideas, I mean, I don’t get into that.”
Great stuff from one of America’s greatest and most unrepentant comedians! Never bow to the woke mob!
