Former NFL player Brendan Langley, a physically imposing specimen, was caught on film knocking down an airport employee with a brutal combination of lefts and rights, leaving the latter sprawled out on the baggage carousel at one point behind United’s check-in counter.
The elimination of mask mandates during air travel has reduced on-flight craziness by an estimated 99%, but that doesn’t mean encounters like this will ever go away.
For me, it’s still hard to believe anyone wants to get in a fight at all anymore, let alone at a venue such as an international airport where most peoples’ main objective is to not encounter flight turbulence or have an intestinal emergency at cruising altitude.
Apparently some folks just can’t let the tiniest aggressions go to waste, though, and have to assert their non-existent manhood in every single interaction with a stranger.
Watch as this player, who seemingly doesn’t want to throw down at first, nevertheless engages with this putative pudge:

We have yet to find a clip of anything, or even an explanation, of anything preceding when the clip begins. Is the employee to blame? The player? It’s hard for me to imagine a world where this employee initiated any trouble, as I assume this likely-entitled athlete presumed the airline would cater to his every need during a canceled flight or rebooking. After Langley presumably harassed the poor little guy, he simply got fed up with yet another asshole.
That’s my assumption, at least. Still, for the life of me I am not sure what he expected to happen. Did he finally snap after trying to explain for the 1,000th time that airlines can’t control the weather? Who knows. But if he expected David vs. Goliath, part 2, he didn’t quite get it.
TMZ described the whole affair as follows:
“An airline passenger and a United Airlines employee were in an all-out brawl at Newark Liberty International Airport, and the worker ended up flat on his ass.
Witnesses say the 2 began arguing before pushing, slapping and ultimately punching each other.
The video starts mid-fight … the worker seems to push the passenger, who then slaps the employee in the face, and then all hell breaks loose.
The 2 square off and then the passenger throws punch after punch … and the blows clearly landed, because the employee eventually falls behind the counter and clearly has trouble getting up and steadying himself.
The craziest part … the employee is clearly dazed and bloodiest, but comes back for more, and that’s where the video ends.”
The first thing I thought about when I heard this story was Mike Tyson, who recently dealt with his own highly-publicized, videotaped fight. Instead of being on the ground, though, Big Mike was already strapped into a speeding tube. That video can be seen here.
