The America-hating, hashish-smuggling WNBA star Brittney Griner remains locked up indefinitely in a Russian jail, but that hasn’t stopped political and celebrity weight from being thrown around to try making Vlad Putin bend a knee to wokeism and ignore the laws on his own books.
I previously covered Griner’s wife making a desperate plea to both Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and President Joe Biden on Good Morning America. I can’t say I blame Griner’s wife for trying, though she needs to realize she is only being used a pawn in a fake human interest story meant only to portray Putin as a villain one more time in our shamelessly corrupt corporate media outlets.
Now, though, the cop-doxxing, America-hating LeBron James has entered the fray. As always, he sounds just as clueless as ever.
“For over 100 days, BG has faced inhumane conditions in a Russian prison and has been denied communications with her family and loved ones. As a decorated Olympian and member of an elite global sport community, BG’s detention must be resolved out of respect for the sanctity of all sport and for all Americans traveling internationally. It is imperative that the U.S. Government immediately address this human rights issue and do whatever is necessary to return Brittney home.“
He then tweeted out that statement as an image while writing separately: “We need to come together and help do whatever we possibly can to bring BG home quickly and safely!! ?? Our voice as athletes is stronger together. @uninterrupted ? #WeAreBG”

Whatever you say, LeBum.
Our friends over at Patriot Fetch didn’t have to do a lot of thinking to observe that Griner is detained only for breaking the country’s laws. Russia is certainly not in violation of any human rights. Now, maybe her confinement is solitary and she has to eat disgusting food alongside rats, but then I would have expected James to speak out in support of J6 political prisoners, too.
The fact is he didn’t describe her confinement; rather, he noted that the fact she is imprisoned is a bridge too far.
“Much as Griner and her fellow America-haters might want the help of the country that they have protested against, she was caught in February with hashish-filled vape cartridges. Hashish is a cannabis-derived drug. That’s illegal in Russia, so as much as Team Biden might mumble that she’s being “wrongfully detained”, the Russians have good reason to lock her up and keep her locked up.”
For those keeping score at home, Griner is in prison for breaking a law. James thinks Griner should be exempt from those laws because she plays a kids’ game at an elite level. That’s called elitist privilege, and based on that alone I actually do expect her to be released.
Amazingly, I would also expect her to come out with even more vitriol for America, owing to the fact she will have been locked up for several months prior to her eventual release. Instead of thanking her Creator for being born in America and being able to pursue a million-dollar talent, then later trading on the celebrity derived from that singular talen to skirt a nation’s soverigty, she will merely casitgate the United States as moving slow because she’s a gay, black woman.
I’m calling it now.
Standing metaphorically next to LeBron, when he isn’t literally kneeling, was NBA commissioner Adam Silver. He offered an equally vapid and ignorant remark on Griner’s detention:
“It’s been now over 100 days since she’s been illegally held in Russia. I think it’s something that all of us should be heard on, contacting your representatives and others. I will only say, we are working in lockstep with the U.S. government and outside experts on trying to expedite her release in any way we can. Certainly, our hearts go out to her and her family and are just eager for her safe return”
If only the NBA believed in human rights for freedom fighters in Hong Kong and Uygher camps.
