How are things going for the disaster that is the Biden Administration? Not too great. Inflation is at a multi-decade high, baby formula can’t be found anywhere, gas prices are at an all time high, America seems to be declining as its enemies seem ascendant, and Biden himself can hardly mumble out a sentence without making a gaffe or looking more confused than George W. Bush, which is really saying something.
But now things are getting even worse, with polls coming out that show even Hispanic and black support for Biden is collapsing, something that’s shocking given that both groups are traditionally bastions of Democrat support.
In fact, things have gotten so bad that even David Axelrod, a former adviser to Barack Obama when Barry was the president, is sounding off on the “red flag” that is Biden’s age, taking to the New York Times to express his worry about an already senile and old Biden running again in 2024.
As Axelrod put it in the New York Times article about the red flag and Democrat “whispers” that Biden needs to go before 2024:
“The presidency is a monstrously taxing job, and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue.”
Adding to that elsewhere in the article, Axelrod points out that Biden’s advanced age and resulting problems have even distracted from what he has managed to accomplish, saying:
“Biden doesn’t get the credit he deserves for steering the country through the worst of the pandemic, passing historic legislation, pulling the NATO alliance together against Russian aggression and restoring decency and decorum to the White House. And part of the reason he doesn’t is performative. He looks his age and isn’t as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn’t rooted in reality.”
Indeed (though I would disagree that Biden has actually accomplished any of those things). Though perhaps the age issue can be mitigated by someone of vigorous health and boundless energy like Trump, who despite his age is more energetic and hard working than many young people, Biden is certainly not that and is quite old.
In fact, he’s already the oldest man to ever be president, as he’s already 79. That means he was older when sworn in than Ronald Reagan, who before the Brandon presidency was the oldest man to ever serve as president when he left office at 77.
If Biden does run in 2024 and somehow wins, therefore, he will be 82 years old when sworn in, an age that would be highly problematic for any issue that requires vigorous, energetic leadership.
Axelrod frames the age issue as a problem for the Democratic Party. Though that’s true, it’s also a big issue for America, one that we can’t afford to ignore.
America is facing numerous challenges right now, particularly in the economic and foreign policy sphere, both of which will require determined leadership and a fighting spirit, neither of which the dementia-addled Biden seems capable of providing.
That’s not just a “red flag”, it’s a major problem, particularly given that Biden seems intent on running again in 2024. As he said back in December:
“I’m a great respecter of fate. Fate has intervened in my life many, many times. If I’m in the health I’m in now, if I’m in good health, then, in fact, I would run again.”
Thus, it might be that the only way to force the senile red flag out of the White House will be to win in 2024. Get ready for the battle.
