Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas suggested the three things he would prefer to do Thursday night instead of watching any part of the much-anticipated prime-time committee hearing on Jan. 6.
“I’ve got to mow my lawn. Or comb my hair. Or maybe just watch the paint dry on the walls,” Cruz stated about what he deemed to be better ways to invest his time than validating the reality of a “political campaign ad for the Democrats.”
Republican Cruz has decried the ongoing House investigation for being political theater that is designed to distract a public wary of the recession in all the ways he has said President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats have let them down, as reported.
“From the opening gavel to the close of the hearing, one hundred percent of their endeavor is a political Hail Mary pass,” Ted Cruz told Insider in the tunnels beneath the Senate chamber. “The American people are deeply unhappy with the disaster of the left-wing policy agenda we’ve seen for the last two years.”
On Jan. 6, 2021, Cruz objected to the counting of Arizona’s electoral votes minutes before the building was stormed by ardent supporters of former president Donald Trump to prevent Joe Biden from legitimately becoming the president.
On one occasion, Ted Cruz described the deadly siege as a “violent terrorist attack” – an off-hand assessment that drew a sharp response from the host of Fox News Tucker Carlson.
Cruz later offered an apology for the “stupid choice of words.”
When asked by Insider if the staff of the January 6 committee could develop policies that might help make his workplace safer, Cruz just turned his head and smiled.
“I don’t think they are trying to come up with meaningful and productive proposals,” he said. “I think they’re engaged in politics.”
Kevin McCarthy is another story. McCarthy blamed Trump in leaked audio, but also slammed the J6 committee for dividing America.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy is being exposed in a newly released audio recording that suggests he blamed Donald Trump for the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6 when people breached the building. McCarthy had also hoped that Donald Trump would resign, but McCarthy ultimately voted against impeachment.

As heard on the newly released Kevin McCarthy audio recordings, per a report:
“I’m seriously thinking of having that conversation with him tonight… from what I know of him — I mean, you guys know him too — do you think he would ever back away? I think this will pass, and that would be my recommendation you should resign… That would be my take, but I don’t think he would take it, but I don’t know.”
McCarthy denied having that conversation, but the newly released audio recording proves differently. It appears that House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy really did have the conversation, but more information and context of the full conversation is needed to provide a more clear picture.
McCarthy said that reports of him having the conversation were “totally false and wrong” but now the conversation appears to exist.
It’s said that more audio recordings may be available in the future, but one must wonder why more conversations are not fully available right now.
