Who’s to blame for the horrific mass shootings that have cut America’s heart to the core recently, whether the Fourth of July massacre in Chicago or the slaughter of children in an elementary school in Uvalde?
According to MSNBC contributor and Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr., the man to blame, at least for the recent shooting in Highland Park, IL, is Tucker Carlson.
Eddie made that absurd claim when appearing on Nicolle Wallace’s show on MSNBC and responded to her snide remark about Tucker’s recent segment on mass shootings (provided below), in which he remarked that many of those involved are young men who have gone nuts in part because of the hate directed their way.
Wallace, sniping at Tucker for that comment, said “So, the problem with mass shootings is women. I see.”
Glaude agreed with her assessment and then went further, going so far as to place the blame for the recent mass shooting in Highland Park on Tucker’s shoulders, saying:
“Think about what Tucker Carlson said. It’s absolutely stupid on a certain level.
“What is he saying in a certain way? Well, a world in which white men reign supreme is collapsing, and they’re losing their minds so that they now want to murder people. That’s what he’s saying. The culture wars is the context for mass shooting. That’s what he’s saying. The grievance and hatred that he peddles is the source of these young 21-year-old and 22-year-olds going out killing babies and killing old people and killing folks on the Fourth of July. It makes no sense.
“Something fundamental that the fabric of the country has shredded, it’s breaking. We’re broken. How do we get at that in terms of the news in relation to entertainment and in relation to ideological? I don’t know. The genie is out of the bottle, and how we fix it will be a difficult task.”
In other words, Tucker’s comments on the culture wars in America and our current fights over what it means to be an American, a fight in which Tucker routinely engages, are to blame for the shootings. Absurd.
Those remarks came after Tucker, slamming the mass proliferation of SSRIs and noting the connection between the use of those drugs and mass shootings, also noted that many of those involved are depressed young men with nothing to live for who are routinely denigrated by the powers that be simply for being male and being white. Speaking on that, Tucker said:
“And of course they’re angry. They know that their lives will not be better than their parents’. They’ll be worse, that’s all, but guaranteed. They know that. They’re not that stupid.
“The authorities in their lives, mostly women, never stop lecturing about their privilege, ‘you’re male, you are privileged.’ Try to imagine an unhealthier life than that. So a lot of young men in America are going nuts. Are you surprised?”
