No one told me life was going to be this way. My job’s a joke, I’m broke, my love life is DOA.
Sound familiar? It should, as that is part of the theme to the super popular 90’s show “Friends”. The show is still super popular on streaming formats, and has spawned a full line of clothing, mugs, paraphernalia and launched Jen Aniston’s career into the stratosphere.
Recently the show’s co-creator Marta Kauffman, in one of the most surreal virtue signaling moves of recent memory apologized and donated 4 million smackers to her alma mater for African American studies. Why did she do this? Because Chandler, Ross, Joey, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe didn’t have any black friends. Yep, you read that right. She apologized for not writing black characters into a 20-year-old show. Marta Kauffman is truly the best white person ever.
In an effort to prove once again what a good white person Marta is, she has decided to apologize to another underrepresented group. It’s too silly and too much to explain so let’s see what Outkick says:
“Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman apologized in a recent interview for misgendering character Chandler Bing’s transgender mother during the show’s 10-year run.
“Pronouns were not yet something that I understood,” Kauffman told the BBC in an interview scheduled to air on Monday. “So we didn’t refer to that character as ‘she.’ That was a mistake.”
Yep, you read that correctly again. Marta is apologizing for not using the correct pronouns for a make believe trans person. I’ll give everyone a minute to facepalm. Ok, I’m back too.
Shame on Kauffman for being such a bigot! I mean, as far as I know, the correct pronoun usage is SO 2021, but she should’ve known twenty years ago that this was going to happen. I mean, if you look back, there was every indication that the world was about to go off the proverbial rails anyway. You should’ve known Marta. Can you BE any more insensitive? (Chandler’s voice).
She said she also regrets referring to the elder Bing character as “father” rather than “mother.”
We kept referring to her as Chandler’s father, even though Chandler’s father was trans,” she told the BBC.
In early seasons of the syndicated sitcom, references to Charles Bing, who also headlined a drag revue under the name Helena Handbasket, were relegated mainly to one-liner jokes like one from the first season in 1995 when Chandler (Matthew Perry) said: “If I turn into my parents, I’ll either be an alcoholic blond chasing after 20-year-old boys, or I’ll end up like my mom.”
Now THAT is funny! It’s so Chandler Bing! Honestly, it’s something most people would joke about, because most people aren’t virtue signaling hacks like Marta Kauffman. Kauffman is intent to keep cashing checks, chasing the one big show she had, desperate to recapture the lightning in a bottle that WAS “Friends”.
You see this phenomenon all the time in music and movies. An artist has a HUGE hit with the first album and spends the rest of their career chasing that glory. Sadly, for Kauffman, she can virtue signal and bow a knee in faux deference to the woke mob all she wants. She won’t ever recreate anything as close to enormous as “Friends”.
someone please explain to me why marta kauffman is on a terrible one-woman mea culpa tour about all the shitty stuff she included in her white ripoff of living single???
marta, you’re worth literally hundreds of millions of dollars, just privately donate money to charities, babe https://t.co/OHU5kKYilI

Actress Kathleen Turner played Chandler’s transgender mother while Morgan Fairchild appeared several times as his biological mom.
In a scene between Fairchild and Turner at Monica and Chandler’s wedding reception, Turner’s character accuses Fairchild’s character of being too old to wear her low-cut dress, causing Fairchild to fire back, “don’t you have a little too much penis to be wearing a dress like that?”
Now that is funny as hell! I remember that scene. I also remember being so offended because of the insensitivity towards the trans community. Just kidding! That scene was hilarious. Maybe if it would’ve had a black person in the background. Think Marta!
The show never actually used the word transgender, referring instead to Charles as gay and a drag performer who would also wear women’s clothes outside of drag shows.
“People thought Charles was just dressing up,” Turner told the Gay Times of the character.
Well, if I recall, Charles WAS gay. Charles WAS a drag performer.
Either way, someone needs to tap Marta Kauffman on the shoulder, whisper in her ear and tell her these weren’t real people. Or maybe she has just gone banana-sandwich. Either way, “Friends” is pretty much ruined for me. Could I BE any sadder?
