It’s yet another day that ends in “y”, so AOC and her fellow “Squad” member, Ilhan Omar, were being ridiculous and dramatic, this time at a pro-abortion protest outside of the Supreme Court.
The protest took a shocking turn of events, however, when AOC and Omar were both arrested, with AOC’s Twitter account announcing:
“Today, Rep. AOC was arrested along with other members of Congress outside the Supreme Court for protesting in support of abortion rights.”

Rep. Alma Adams was one of those “other members of Congress” referenced by AOC’s account. Her account tweeted:
“This is Congresswoman Adams’ staff. She was just arrested protesting for abortion rights and reproductive justice at the Supreme Court. More information as it develops.”

The arrests, though the left-wing Congresswomen involved will surely proclaim them to be racist, occurred because protesters were blocking the street and refused to clear out when told to do so by the Capitol Police, who posted, in a Twitter thread that was updated a number of times as events occurred:
Demonstrators are starting to block First Street, NE.
It is against the law to block traffic, so officers are going to give our standard three warnings before they start making arrests.
We have already given our standard three warnings.
Some of the demonstrators are refusing to get out of the street, so we are starting to make arrests.
First Street, NE is open again.
The demonstration is clear.
UPDATE: We made a total of 34 arrests for Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding (DC Code § 22–1307).
That arrest number includes 16 Members of Congress.
Correction: We made a total of 35 arrests for Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding (DC Code § 22–1307).
That arrest number includes 17 Members of Congress.
The Capitol Police Twitter account says that that police force has been protecting “our democracy” since 1828, so perhaps Republicans will bash Democrats over the head with the “attacking our democracy” line now, which would be a fun case of throwing the words of the Democrats back at them.
One of the funniest photos to come out of the whole thing is AOC standing with her hands behind her back, acting like she was handcuffed. As a side-view of her in the same pose shows, she was not. Check that out here:

She also raised her hand in a fist to cheer on her supporters, so the whole handcuffed thing was just an obvious charade.
Tim Young, joking about that on Twitter, threw one of AOC’s most infamous lies back at her, saying “You guys… @AOC is such a victim that she has to pretend that the big, mean policeman put her in handcuffs…She probably also thinks he wants to date her.”
I suppose this incident will just give Democrats more reasons to call for defunding the police, though that’s assuming that the Democrats just arrested by those protecting “our democracy” aren’t locked up in the same cells as the January 6th protesters were for supposedly assaulting “our democracy.”
