Bowser Breaks: Diversity-Loving Washington DC Mayor Calls For Drastic Measure To Deal With Illegal Immigrants

Governors in states along our southern border have been vocal in their concerns regarding illegal immigration for years. Their school and health care systems can’t handle the additional workload, they explained. The financial burden placed on their taxpayers was excessive and unfair, they shouted. And the fact that such migrants were entering their states unvetted posed a serious threat to the health and security of their communities, they complained.

But government officials elsewhere in the country, particularly in our federal government and in blue cities such as New York and Washington D.C., dismissed the pleas from governors such as Greg Abbott in Texas and Doug Ducey in Arizona. Both Ducey and Abbott are, after all, Republicans; and Republicans just don’t like the brown people that come across their border with Mexico. They’re just whining bigots, that’s all.

Then this past April, both Abbott and Ducey had had enough. The Biden Administration’s hands-off policies and refusals to secure our border were overwhelming law enforcement in their states as well as virtually every other public service offering from their governments. So, Abbott and Ducey took matters into their own hands.

Just as the winter was turning into spring in the northeast, Arizona and Texas began busing these migrants northward, to cities such as New York and D.C. Democrats and their media immediately dismissed the practice as a “political stunt,” and seemed unconcerned about the impact it would have. But by mid-June, there had been 79 such buses sent to the northeast, and the influx of illegal immigrants was taking its toll.

Just last week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams lashed out, hollering that the immigrants were causing a “real burden” on his city. New York is the largest city in America, but its shelters were being blown out due to the influx. He complained about the impact on New York’s schools, and food stamps program, and clothing distribution. “We need help,” he implored.

Now in Washington D.C., Adams’ counterpart Muriel Bowser has one-upped Adams’ alarmism. According to NBC-4 In Washington:

“D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the activation of the D.C. National Guard to help with migrants who are arriving by bus to the nation’s capital, according to letters obtained by News4. For months, migrants have been bused into Washington, D.C., from Texas and Arizona, but aid groups say there are not enough resources available.

Bowser said 4,000 migrants have arrived so far in a ‘humanitarian crisis’ that has reached a ‘tipping point.’ Bowser requested the help of the National Guard in a letter to the office of the Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin dated July 19 and a second letter to White House aides dated July 22.”

Yes, you read that correctly: The mayor of Washington D.C. has requested the National Guard to be deployed to help her deal with the onslaught of illegal immigrants in her city.

But what’s most noteworthy about the cries of “Uncle!” from the likes of Bowser and Adams is the rapidity with which they’ve thrown up their hands. As noted, Bowser claims to be dealing with a total of 4,000 migrants, and for New York City, the number appears to be closer to 3,000. Now consider that last year there were a reported 1.7 million illegal border crossings. That means Bowser and Adams combined are currently dealing with approximately 0.4% of the total number of such immigrants that entered our country last year. That’s less than one-half of one percent of a total that will easily be surpassed this year.

If Muriel Bowser, Eric Adams, Joe Biden, and every other prominent Democrat were being honest, they would admit this: Those immigrants don’t belong in New York and Washington because they don’t belong in America. If they are here illegally, they should not have been sent to New York and Washington because they should have been sent back to Mexico as soon as they crossed the border. Or, better still, they never should have been around to have been put on buses by Abbott and Ducey because we should have a secure border that stops them from coming in the first place.

What Ms. Bowser and Mr. Adams need to do is some root cause analysis. Solve the problem by looking upstream, folks. And in the meantime, let’s hope governors Ducey and Abbott start sending those buses to other blue cities so maybe they’ll get the message as well.
