Former president Donald Trump weighed in on the ongoing saga of spoiled brat Brittney Griner’s Russian detention and the Brandon administration’s latest efforts to bring her home during a radio appearance this past week.
Speaking to Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on their daily talk show, President Trump noted that Griner herself acknowledged her mistake (she has since plead guilty in court for the drug-related infraction), that she made the mistake in a country known for strict laws against drug use, and that the person whom would be returned to Russia is a dangerous maniac whose nickname “Merchant of Death” would seem to outweigh bringing back a rich, pampered celebrity.
Trump said the following during part of his appearance:
“She knew you don’t go in there loaded up with drugs, and she admitted it. I assume she admitted it without too much force because it is what it is, and it certainly doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it? He’s absolutely one of the worst in the world, and he’s gonna be given his freedom because a potentially spoiled person goes into Russia loaded up with drugs.
“She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re very vigilant about drugs. They don’t like drugs. And she got caught. And now we’re supposed to get her out — and she makes, you know, a lot of money, I guess. We’re supposed to get her out for an absolute killer and one of the biggest arms dealers in the world. Killed many Americans. Killed many people.”
A large part of Donald Trump’s appeal is his way of connecting with regular folks by saying the obvious parts out loud. Pertaining to the escalated Griner situation, he once more does exactly that. In what world does it make sense to “rescue” an America-hating, law-breaking petty criminal for one of the world’s preeminent black market weapons dealers?
A less-discussed angle of the entire debacle, which further embarrasses Brandon the international stage, is the fact that only now is former U.S. Marine Patrick Whelan looking at coming home after years of imprisonment in Russia. Whelan has been detained overseas since 2018 and has quietly rotted…until the kneeling Griner got busted for possessing hashish.
Bring him home. Let her stay.
Of the so-called Merchant of Death, whose given name is Victor Bout, Fox News had the following to say of his resume and previous arrest:
“Russian officials have long pushed for the release of Bout, who is currently serving a 25-year sentence in U.S. prison after being convicted in 2011 of conspiracy to kill Americans, conspiracy to deliver anti-aircraft missiles, and aiding a terrorist organization.
He was nabbed in 2008 in a sting operation at a luxury hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, where he met with Drug Enforcement Administration informants who were posing as officials with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which has been classified by U.S. officials as a narco-terrorist group.”
