Another Child Dies From TikTok Blackout Challenge

Another young person has lost their life as a result of participating in the “blackout challenge” that has been linked to the deaths of many other children and teenagers. Leon Brown, 14, died only a few weeks after his fellow Brit, Archie Battersbee, 12, passed away. Both are believed to have died as a result of the same viral “blackout challenge”.

A police spokesman stated in a statement that we were informed of the unexpected death of a 14-year-old child at Ochilview Court in Cumbernauld at about 8 a.m. on Thursday. Per the New York Post Brown’s death was not accompanied by any unusual or unexplained circumstances.

Later, Leon’s mom Lauryn Keating found out that her son had taken part in the blackout challenge, which is one of several dangerous trends that have spread via TikTok. This trend promotes a form of self-strangulation by challenging users to see how long they can go without taking a breath, and it led to the death of Keating’s son. This sometimes risky game has the ability to reduce the amount of oxygen that reaches the brain, which might lead to convulsions, major damage, or even death.

After witnessing the challenge performed on TikTok, Keating learned through her son’s friends that he had been participating in the challenge on Facetime with them. The video platform claims it will now erase material of “this sort” if it is discovered and will not allow it in the future. Users of TikTok are strongly urged to report other users who are participating in the challenge by clicking the icon that reads “Report.”

However, Brown was rendered unconscious and never regained consciousness following his effort, which resulted in a disastrous outcome. Keating, who was in a condition of utter despair, cried out, his friends said they hoped they would wake up. However, Leon never did. The devastated mom spoke to her late pride and pleasure as the “happiest, funniest tiny kid ever,” adding that he “loved to make others laugh” and that he was “a class clown.”

TikTok was previously banned under the Trump admin but shortly after Biden took office it was unbanned by an executive order by Biden. TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance which is partly owned by the Chinese Communist government. Last year it was reported that TikTok has been harvesting data from millions of young Americans who voluntarily upload videos to the app every day.

It appears the Chinese government is lauding the fact that American and European children are becoming addicted to an app they created. It was reported that American children on average are spending around 88 minutes a day on TikTok. On the flip side, China has limited TikTok usage for teens to just 40 minutes per day. The CCP knows that the future of America lies in the hands of the younger generation. So, if American children are growing up with the goal to be “TikTok famous” whereas Chinese children are striving to be doctors, engineers, and scientists we all know the latter would have more success if this trend continues.
