“Some days are just better than others.” So begins the Facebook post of a West Virginia Republican state senator who happened to capture the pure cinematic magic of a yuppie D.C. tourist stranded by his useless electric vehicle in the heart of coal mine nation.
The trouble started when the EV died, leaving its owner adrift on a paved sea. Fortunately, a group of good-natured, big-hearted coal miners were nearby and aided the stray car. Of course, being out of fuel would be bad enough, but to add insult to lithium injury the entire bottom of the car was manufactured with plastic, rendering it unable to be towed.
A terrific tweet provides the perfect visual for what transpired:
“So here are 5 coal miners pushing a battery car to the coal mine to charge up.” https://t.co/qDCRxN62Wf

As for the state senator’s post, the entire narrative can be read below. In it, coastal elites should take notice that the very people demonized by Joe Biden and the entire Democrat apparatus, both for their political allegiance and reliance on fossil fuels, did not treat this outsider with scorn. Instead, they kindly helped out a fellow person and sent them on their way.
How easy would it have been for a coal miner to deride a foolish EV owner – especially in West Virginia? There are good people in red states – far more than socialist nightmares like New York or California. This stranded driver would be more likely to be mugged than pushed in those hellscapes.
Here is how Smith described the scene:
Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine.
Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. They couldn’t pull it because it was all plastic underneath and nothing to hook up to.
So here are 5 coal miners pushing a battery car to the coal mine to charge up. If you look closely you can see our coal stockpile and load out in the background.
This just shows you coal miners are good people and will go out of their way to help anyone friend or foe. Im honestly glad they ended up where they could get some help because they couldn’t get a tow truck to come and this is out in the middle of nowhere. one guy even dropped off a Friend of Coal license plate when he left to go home. Lol #Godblesscoalminers
Apparently, one of the group members even left a license plate that read “Friend of Coal” for the driver of the electric vehicle. Too funny.
