We all see the state of the world, don’t we? Morality is at a low point in most of our lifetimes. There are fewer people in church, and fewer adults bringing their kids up in church. The results are palpable. Crime, inappropriate sexual behavior, and a general decay in the fabric of American society has been the result. Like they say, “you reap what you sow”, and America is currently reaping.
The decline in church attendance can be blamed on a number of factors. Dual income households where some parents have to work on the weekend, kids being involved in sports or activities that require weekend travel and participation, and a failure of the generation before to take and keep kids active in the church. Of course, the church is to blame as well, with many ultra conservative churches protesting things like soldiers’ funerals, etc. Of course, mostly people just want to be able to do and act however they want, and abandoning religion is a way to attempt to not feel guilty for acting like a heathen. According to one study, Christians could make up less than fifty percent of America pretty soon. Check this out from the Washington Examiner:
About 64% of U.S. citizens identified themselves as Christian in 2020, compared to 30% who said they are religiously unaffiliated, or “nones,” according to the Pew Research Center. Another 6% identified themselves as belonging to another religion.

Of all the wacky ways people are allowed to “identify” in 2022, I think I would choose Christian. Probably the safest path to, you know, avoid eternal damnation.
However, the number of people who have left Christianity to identify themselves as “nones” has steeply increased since the 1990s, leading experts to believe this could lead to a religious makeup in which Christians represent less than half the U.S. population by 2070, while those who are religiously unaffiliated overtake the majority.
Folks, this is not good news. However you feel about God and organized religion, it is undeniable that a lack of a moral center leads to the downfall of society. That has been proven over and over throughout history. People just aren’t good enough on their own to avoid self-destruction.
Religion and church offer people a place to go and congregate and feel accepted. Human beings need to feel a sense of purpose and have some idea of what the meaning of life is, whether real or imagined. That kind of sense of peace is what God, religion and Christianity used to bring. We are falling away from that, and the results are disastrous.
It’s not clear what is causing the shift in religious tides, but it’s largely due to people leaving Christianity voluntarily.
The findings suggest that the U.S. could be following in the footsteps of other countries in Western Europe that used to have overwhelming Christian majorities that have diminished in recent decades.
Great! I used to think we wanted to be better than Europe. Americans used to think that this country was blessed by God, but now so many people have disdain for America, that we are no better than Europe. We might as well go back to England! America was built on religious freedom, so people have the right to choose to not participate, but the morality of our country will also suffer accordingly.
