Commander-in-Chief? Horsefeathers!

The accepted notion that the president is elected as commander-in-chief (CIC) is wrong and sad. Somehow various would-be sages have interpreted this concept of CIC through some medium other than the reading of the Constitution—which they probably haven’t read, anyway.

It is wrong because it isn’t so. Sad because, as usual: scholars, lawyers, journalists, and politicians with their inbred bastardized bureaucrats, of course, seem to believe it. If these are, as they say, the best and brightest, then God save us from the worst and darkest (though they may now be among us).

The Constitution states no such thing that: THE PRESIDENT IS THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE COUNTRY.

Section 2

1: The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;

It is sad because apparently, no one seems to correct whoever is spewing the error. It is equally wrong because there is a certain authority seemingly placed on the president that is dangerous. It is also wrong because an overpaid, underworked collection largely of misfits called the United States Congress gets to sit on its collective butts and assign war-making powers to the president when it is their responsibility to engage (or not) in wars. 

Article 1, Section 8

Among the powers of Congress:

11: To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning            Captures on Land and Water;

12: To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years-emphasis added.

13: To provide and maintain a Navy. 

14: To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

Presently various factions are promoting a war with Russia in or out of Ukraine with or without atomic bombs–either is fine, it seems. With few opponents in Congress to the Pentagon and its surrogates, there is little opposition to a presidential-led war. Mostly neocons, Pentagon lobbyists, and blustering Republicans with the president’s ear remind him he is the CIC and should take action. This is a lie, but then we are talking about the integrity of our government. This is the same bunch that told us masks were a great idea. 

There is seldom a reminder outside a handful of journalists like Tucker Carlson, or military men like retired colonel, Douglas MacGregor that these presidential wars are not only illegal but endless and immoral. And that they are the responsibility of Congress to end although they had no (declared)say in the beginning. 

The neocons with their bureaucrats and bestial lobbyists et al shout into the president’s ear that he is the CIC and it is his duty to send in tanks, planes, men (and even women*, of course) along with billions of dollars of illegally appropriated money—taxed through the magic of printed money. They lie, and they know they are lying. It is NOT his duty as CIC unless Congress acts. They speak as if tutored by truth tables constructed by Adam Schiff and Liz Cheney.

*Such irony in the absence of American manhood that a magnificently courageous woman—Army officer Tulsi Gabbard– has been the most recent one to come to the forefront to expose the rank love of war for profit within the Washington Deep State. 

The standard riposte from the neocons and the Pentagon lobbyists is that there have been numerous undeclared wars in our history, all waged with the greatest virtue and led almost singlehandedly by the CIC. 

No glorious wrong or wrongs equals a righteous right. It only makes for lining the pockets of certain industrialists, and behind-the-lines generals, many of whom packs (and they load ’em up) their chests with medals, never having gotten close to a foxhole. And always there are the pretentious politicians who smarm in their disingenuous stances with somber looks and phony tears when some soldier is sent home blow to bits or hospitalized; blinded, crippled, etc.

The president was elected as president, not as CIC. Congress was elected to declare war, if necessary, not as sugar daddies for the Pentagon.

The Pentagon and its political generals and admirals soon ready for the rah-rah Army/Navy game  salivate at the potential for extending foreign wars, and their own attendance absent from the war– but not the game. They are like small boys playing a board game of war. But real wars cost real lives, and arms and legs, and eyes. The men on the battlefield lose these. The only thing the neocons and the Pentagon generals lose is their honor. ACTUALLY, THEY HAVE SOLD IT, IT’S NOT LOST 

But how much could that honor ever have been worth? 

This is NOT a time that tries men’s souls. It is a time when most men have lost their souls, Particularly, men in Washington D.C. Extorted money from “we the people,” blood sacrifices from the few honorable sheepdogs in the land, and governmental positions of power have seared these souls of any decency; of any conscience.  

We are now a land of weak people (no men, no women) controlled by a camp of sociopaths living high on the hog along the Potomac; laughing at us while enjoying the “bread” of “we the circus.”
