Want to change the direction of the country? There is hope and it’s found in the Constitution of the United States.
Are you tired of the morass and the deepening swamp of politics in Washington? This is not just affecting the Democratic party but crosses the aisles and infects both parties and just about all representatives in Washington. People get elected to congress and report to Washington with a base salary of $174,000, yet after years in Washington, leave with a net worth of millions. How does this happen? I think we all know.
The Federal government prints money at the drop of a hat, never caring where or how it is going to be repaid. They are piling up debt that reaches beyond us,creating a burden that stretches to my great grandchildren (which are not even born yet) and probably beyond them!
Washington has over-reached their bounds in so many ways, I’ll just name a couple. Mask mandates, and actually just about anything that is related to the COVID pandemic fiasco, which should have been left to the states to decide on how they wanted to handle it. The education of our children is another area of federal meddling. Again, this should be a state run entity, but we have the states bowing and scraping to the federal government because of the money that is proffered to them. Either follow their guidelines or lose the money so the states acquiesce and get drawn into the swamp of politics instead of the needs of the students. There are so many other examples.
So how can we fix this? There is a way. It is through Article V of the US Constitution. This article was written to delineate the ways to propose an amendment or amendments to the Constitution. One way to do so, which has taken place many times, is for Congress to propose the amendments in a joint resolution and upon passing them by a 2/3’s vote, the amendments then go to the several states for a vote. If 3/4’s of the states approve, we have an amendment. There is another way though. That is through a called Convention of States (COS). This is when 2/3’s of the several state legislators call for a Convention of States to discuss certain amendments to the constitution.
This is happening right now. Tired of overreach by the federal government, tired of fiscal irresponsibility, fed up with elected officials becoming entrenched in Washington and then never leaving, 19 states have already called for a Convention of States to take place, while 14 more have active legislation advocating for a Convention of States to happen. If all of them approved it, that would only leave one state shy of the 34 states required, and Virginia has a bill that will be introduced calling for a Convention of States in the upcoming session in January.
The proposal’s put forward by the COS resolution can put an end to all three of the encroachments and overreach that were mentioned above. These are the proposals that have been passed and are being considered:

As you can see, these are not amendments which any sitting member of congress would pass, much less even propose. I think we should all get behind this grassroots movement by contacting your state legislators, delegates or senators.
