The Satanic Temple Just Joined a Side in the Abortion Fight…Guess Which One

The conservative majority on the Supreme Court just took the monumental step of overturning Roe v. Wade and finding that abortion is not a fundamental right, returning the issue to the states to decide as they see fit.

As could be predicted, the left went absolutely berserk about the decision, with cities having to mobilize their riot police to deal with “mostly peaceful” protesters and protests as the radicals called for a night of rage of the sort seen during the “summer of love” following George Floyd’s death.

And so the crazies came out of the woodwork, with blue-hairs and crazies galore losing their minds on Twitter and TikTok, expressing their profound rage at the idea that babies can’t be killed in the womb as a matter of course now.

Joining the side of those loons was the Satanic Temple, which called itself a “beacon of light” in the fight for “abortion access” in a tweet. Making that comment and offering a “resource” to those willing to look into what actual devil-worshippers have to say, the Satanic Temple said:

The Satanic Temple is the leading beacon of light in the battle for abortion access. With Roe v Wade overturned, a religious exemption will be the only available challenge to many restrictions to access. Learn More bit.ly/3u0D8Fs

The linked resource leads to a page about the “satanic abortion ritual,” which seems as accurate a description of abortion as any, saying:

The Satanic abortion ritual provides spiritual comfort and affirms bodily autonomy, self-worth, and freedom from coercive forces with the affirmation of TST’s Seven Tenets. The ritual is not intended to convince a person to have an abortion. Instead, it sanctifies the abortion process by instilling confidence and protecting bodily rights when undergoing the safe and scientific procedure.

So we know which side the devil and his agents are on.

As a side note, the devil-worshippers are also on the side of gay rights, as they put in another recent tweet:

The Satanic Temple’s First Tenet calls for acting with compassion and empathy in accordance with reason. In addition to guiding our support for Pride Month and the LGBTQIA community, it informs our explicit opposition to antisemitism, white supremacy, and other forms of hate.

Meanwhile, other non-Christian groups stepped in to defend abortion.

Jewish groups around the country, for example, decided to back the abortion lobby and vowed to resist the Dobbs opinion, with the Times of Israel reporting that:

The National Council of Jewish Women, a Jewish women’s rights group founded in 1893, said it would hold a virtual vigil on Friday afternoon before launching into actions next week that would include training Jewish groups on how to mount challenges.

[…]most American Jews back abortion access, and Jewish groups have already taken steps to counter the decision after the draft decision was leaked.”

The same Times of Israel article quotes NCJW’s CEO, Sheila Katz, as saying:

“We can’t provide legal advice to organizations but we can recommend that organizations seek out legal advice, particularly if they are in states where abortion has been overturned. In some of these states, there’s legal ramifications for trying to help somebody have an abortion and everybody should know what that looks like in their states and how they’re impacted.”
