Elon Musk recently announced that he has a “super bad feeling” about the American economy and so intended on firing about 10% of the Tesla workforce, which he viewed as being “overstaffed” and needing to be cut down to size to avoid financial problems. Reporting on that at the time, Reuters said:
Musk said Tesla will be reducing salaried headcount by 10%, as it has become “overstaffed in many areas.” But “hourly headcount will increase,” he said.
“Note, this does not apply to anyone actually building cars, battery packs or installing solar”
Well, now we know who it was that Elon intends on giving a pink slip to in order to keep Tesla on a firm financial footing: the useless blue hairs in the diversity department of the company.
News on that comes from Electrek, which reported that the layoffs have begun at Tesla, saying:
Now we learn that many employees involved in diversity and inclusivity programs were part of the layoffs – including the president of Tesla’s LGBTQ+ community – and a lead involved in diversity and inclusivity programs at the company.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Bobby Berretta-Paris, a five-year Tesla veteran, was let go last week. He was hired as a recruiter and promoted three times during his tenure. He was also the volunteer president of LGBTQ+ at Tesla.
So “based” Elon Musk decided to slash and burn the diversity department when he needed to cut jobs to keep his company stable…if only every CEO in America were to do the same, then perhaps companies could get back to making money and away from agitating on behalf of groomers or “LGBTQIALMNOP” and whatever other letters, numbers, and symbols issues.
Further, though the layoffs are coming following Elon’s point that the economy isn’t looking great and expenses need to be reduced, part of the impetus for the firings, particularly the firings of diversity personnel, is that Elon is worried about the “woke mind virus”.
That’s another issue Elon has spoken about recently, saying, when asked why he was getting more political, that “Unless it is stopped, the woke mind virus will destroy civilization and humanity will never reached Mars“.
Indeed it will, and what better way to fight back against the woke mind virus than by firing those infected with it, keeping them far from important companies and the levers of power within them?
Elon also fired those employees who have publically disagreed with him and his tweets, with the Tesla COO firing off a letter shortly afterward that also focused on getting down to business rather than dithering around with nonsense, saying:
“The letter, solicitations and general process made employees feel uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views. We have too much critical work to accomplish and no need for this kind of overreaching activism.”
So, though the firings could be based only on reducing headcount, it also seems possible that Elon and his pink slips are waging war on wokeness within Tesla in an attempt to get it focused on business and the woke mind virus purged from within it.
Adding further evidence to that, as the Daily Wire notes, is Elon’s seeming drift to the right, with that outlet saying:
The separations at both companies came days after Musk made headlines for announcing that he cast his ballot for Mayra Flores — a Mexican-American Republican congressional candidate who won a historically Democratic district in southern Texas — after earlier announcing that he would vote Republican in this year’s midterm elections. When asked online about who he was leaning toward supporting in the 2024 presidential election, Musk said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
