We just finished Pride Month – a month-long orgy of self-indulgent children, who think the world owes them something because of how they identify, not what they have accomplished. It was a month of patting each other on the back and demanding participation trophies for simply having somewhat unconventional lifestyles.
I have a news flash for the Pride Month revelers: we don’t care about your chosen lifestyle. We only care what you have chosen to do with it. Aside from marching nude in public and reading children’s books in drag, what have the LGBTQ practitioners accomplished? Have they achieved any lasting impact which doesn’t involve destruction (families, churches, mutual respect, and civilized norms)?
Luckily, it’s our turn now. It’s July, a month in which we can express pride in what our countrymen have actually created.
I’m proud to live in a country where a bunch of yahoos can put on makeup and assless chaps, and strut around in public complaining about how persecuted they are, with no fear of being hanged, or beheaded, or stoned to death. The fact that Pride Month can even happen each year, is a testament to the tolerance of Americans. We accept divergent lifestyles more than any other country on Earth.
I’m proud to live in an America where millions struggle to get in, and some talk about leaving – but never do. Since its founding, the flow of people has always been into, not away from, America. That’s because everyone recognizes our fundamental goodness, even though some refuse to admit it.
I’m proud to live in an America where a black man can sign a $725 million promotional deal with advertisers, even as he claims to be a member of a victim class. As he makes ostentatious displays with his jewelry and fast cars, we see that America is still a land of opportunity – even for ungrateful fools.
I’m proud to live in an America in which pajama boys can dye their man-buns blue and complain about toxic masculinity. Then they can retire each night and sleep soundly in the knowledge that should they be threatened, other men and women of character will come to their aid – no questions asked.
I’m proud to live in a country that would rescue a 16-year-old Muslim girl from a refugee camp and give her a life in which she could grow up to be a US Congresswoman. It doesn’t matter a whit that she has become a visceral critic of her adopted country – that’s an indictment of her character, not the character of the country that welcomed her.
I’m proud to live in a country that calls itself the “great melting pot.” Ours is a country in which assimilation of all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds is considered a strength – not a weakness.
I’m proud to live in a country that has affirmed the God-given rights of all men – and used that commitment to lift itself out of the evil of slavery.
I’m proud to live in the country that saved Europe from fascism/socialism/communism and the unspeakable misery those ideologies visited on millions of people. Hundreds of thousands of our countrymen have offered their own lives, to save those suffering under the yoke of repression – and we have asked for nothing in return.
July is our month to celebrate men who stood up, at great personal risk, and did something which had never been done before. They declared that men have God-given rights and that government’s proper role is to serve men, not be served by men. That notion, asserted on July 4, 1776, forever made autocratic governments obsolete. That is something to truly be proud of.
