Pure Brutality! Lawlessness On Portland’s Streets Claims Another Innocent Victim

As an 82-year-old man, Donald Pierce likely had vague recollections of the end of World War II and vivid memories from the decades that followed. There’s no doubt Mr. Pierce witnessed examples of beauty over those years, as well as episodes of utter viciousness. He could likely recall instances of the violence that accompanied Jim Crow prior to 1964. He would have seen detailed footage and coverage of the 1970 slaughter of four protesting students at Kent State University, and of course, he saw extensive documentation of the mercilessness that was unleashed on September 11th, 2001.

While Mr. Pierce was coming down the home stretch in the November of his years, it’s probable that he’d assumed he’d seen the worst of what humanity had to offer. But little did Donald Pierce know that his own demise would come as a result of another atrocity: A beating at the hands of a 29-year-old thug while he and another elderly man were quietly waiting for a bus in the decaying city of Portland, Oregon.

According to Oregon Live:

“The 82-year-old Portland man who was the victim of an unprovoked attack June 25 at a bus stop near Portland State University has died, police said Tuesday.

Donald Pierce died July 7 of blunt force trauma, nearly two weeks after he and 88-year-old Edward Lichtenstein were knocked to the ground and beaten near Southwest 5th Avenue and Hall Street around 8:30 p.m.

Portland police officers were responding to an unrelated call near the area when they came across the assault and arrested 29-year-old Keffer White. Police said White punched and kicked both men repeatedly after toppling them.”

The homicide rate in Portland increased by 91% in 2021 compared to 2020 – and 2020 wasn’t exactly a banner year either, by the way – and so far in 2022, the city is on pace to see that statistic increase again. Aggravated assaults in the city are higher than last year in every single precinct. Human trafficking, kidnappings, and sex offenses are out of control.

Portland has succumbed to anarchy, and innocent citizens like Donald Pierce are the ones who must deal with the chaos.

In 2020, leftwing radicals demanded that officials in the Democrat-run city and state “Defund The Police,” and the gutless morons running the city obliged by pulling $15 million of funding for the men and women in blue. Portland signaled its soft-on-crime philosophy, and its citizens paid the price with over 100 consecutive days of rioting, or ‘mostly-peaceful-protesting,’ that year.

Mayor Ted Wheeler, one of the top three worst mayors in America, recognized the “defund” mistake last year and asked to at least partially re-fund the police department, but the damage was done. Oregon’s Democratic governor Kate Brown thought it would be a good idea to grant clemency to scores of violent criminals and to put them back on Portland’s streets despite skyrocketing crime.

The message from Wheeler, Brown, and others has been clear: Come to our city, come to our state, and do as you please. In the name of equity and social justice, we will look the other way. Commit your crimes, murder our citizens, and destroy our communities. We’re progressive, we’re enlightened, we’re woke, and have no interest in the rule of law.

Unfortunately, due to the clueless voters who continue to elect clowns like Ted Wheeler and Kate Brown, it is not those politicians who suffer the consequences of their pathetic governance, it is honest, everyday residents like Donald Pierce who suffer. Perhaps someday voters in Oregon and Portland will come to their senses and stop electing such leftists. In the meantime, however, we must endure stories like this one.
