On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Hillsborough County state attorney, Andrew Warren, after the woke prosecutor had recently made remarks indicating he would not enforce Florida’s laws on abortion and transgender child surgery.
The Daily Wire reported, “State Attorneys have a duty to prosecute crimes as defined in Florida law, not to pick and choose which laws to enforce based on his personal agenda,” DeSantis said in a statement. “It is my duty to hold Florida’s elected officials to the highest standards for the people of Florida. I have the utmost trust that Judge Susan Lopez will lead the office through this transition and faithfully uphold the rule of law.”
According to the executive order, it specified that “the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by other law enforcement agencies as necessary, is requested to: (i) assist in the immediate transition of Andrew Warren from the Office of the State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of Florida, with access only to retrieve his personal belongings; and (ii) ensure that no files, papers, documents, notes, records, computers, or removable storage media are removed from the Office of the State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of Florida by Andrew Warren or any of his staff.”
This is exactly the action that Governors should be taking, especially in conservative states where their cities are plagued with woke prosecutors funded by George Soros.
As demonstrated in Florida, state constitutional authority should be invoked to ensure the rule of law is followed in every state.
Tucker Carlson commented, “Soros prosecutors around the country basically take it upon themselves to determine which laws should be followed, and which laws should not be followed.”
DeSantis said, “Here’s what Soros is doing. It’s actually smart on [Soros’] part, they can’t get these things enacted in a legislature where you’re just gonna let criminals run [amok].”
This is subverting the legislation in red states, like Florida, where the policy that is implemented is negated by prosecutors who won’t enforce it.
DeSantis continued, “So it’s a total end run around our constitutional system. The results obviously have been destructive around the country. But it also really undermines the idea that ours is supposed to be a government of laws, not a government of individual men.”
This manifests in high crime rates as prosecutors will take soft-on-crime approaches criminals and let them back on the streets, or as we saw in Florida, a refusal to enforce abortion laws and protections on children.
We need to prevent radical progressives from gaining political power at the local level since it has been the latest strategy of the left in undermining conservatives.
If they can’t win big elections, such as Gubernatorial races, they will try to undercut state authority by installing their leftist puppets, such as Andrew Warren, in smaller positions.
However, these positions, such as state attorney, have massive influence at the local level. If you scale this up and control many of these positions across a state, you can really shape the political landscape.
Ultimately, Republican voters need to pay attention to who they vote for at the local level, to prevent progressive radicals like George Soros from influencing their communities.
