Senator Joe Kennedy of Louisiana is at it again, this time using his wit and steel spine to rip into the far-left Democrats for passing a spending bill they’re calling the “inflation reduction act,” saying that it takes a “special kind of stupid” to pass such a bill and raise taxes at a time like this, when inflation is ripping through the wallets of consumers and the economy appears to be teetering on the edge of a recession, if not already in one.
Senator Kennedy made those remarks in a video posted to Twitter, along with which he included a caption saying “It’s a special kind of stupid to raise taxes during both a recession and inflation—that’s called stagflation, which is what we have right now as a result of President Biden’s policies.”

As you can hear in the video, Kennedy, attacking the bill and its provisions with what he presents as cold, hard facts, said:
“According to the nonpartisan Joint Tax Committee […] the burden of Se. Manchin’s bill will fall on everyone. […] So, most Americans, if not all Americans, are now going to have even less money to spend as prices continue to rise. […] It’s a special kind of stupid, in my judgment, to raise taxes during both a recession and inflation—that’s called stagflation, which is what we have right now as a result of President Biden’s policies.”
Ending his insult-filled attack on the Democrat bill, Kennedy then added that “This bill is tier-1 moronic.”
And though Democrats are blindly repeating the “it won’t raise taxes on people making less than $400k a year” talking point, Kennedy’s contention seems to be closer to the truth. According to a report from the Tax Foundation, the bill will cost thousands of jobs, reduce economic output, and it will also reduce average after-tax incomes for taxpayers across every income quintile over the long run.
So that’s not good news, particularly given the already precarious state of the nation’s economy.
Further, the bill, though ostensibly meant to counter the precipitous rise in inflation we’ve seen under President Brandon, the bill doesn’t really seem to have much to do with that, as even CNN admitted in a recent segment, saying:
“The prescription drug stuff doesn’t happen for years. The climate stuff is out in the future somewhere. The main issue is inflation, and it does nothing despite the bill’s title.”
But pass it the Democrats did, so now they’ll pat themselves on the back while the rest of us experience, as Senator Kennedy put it in the video “higher prices, lower wages, lower stock prices, and lower 401K balances.”
Oh, and, as Kennedy put it, though Manchin almost certainly doesn’t want “more people living in a tent behind the Whataburger,” he thinks that “that’s going to be the result of this bill.”
So you can thank Democrats for that too if you see it.
