I don’t think that I believe in aliens. While I’d like to think that they’re real and imagine that we’ll be settling the stars with them soon enough, right now I don’t.
Rather, it seems that all those supposed UFOs that people see are military/CIA/other government agency hardware being tested out and accidentally seen.
Take the Roswell incident, for example. A crashed UFO? Probably not. A crashed weather spy balloon and test dummies? Probably.
Were aliens from Mars shooting across the skies in technological marvels we couldn’t hope to replicate? Probably not. Were U-2 spy planes flying around for years before the Gary Powers incident made their existence known and the government didn’t want to unveil that it had them.
All that’s to say that I’m a UFO skeptic: while it’d be cool (and terrifying) if aliens are real and visiting us, it seems more likely that it’s just military equipment.
But even I’m interested when UFO videos come out, as one recently did. This most recent one came from an airline pilot, who recorded his bizarre encounter with a UFO for a whopping 35 minutes, with the video being in surprisingly good quality for a UFO video.
Watch the video here:
Explaining the video and what happened during the encounter, the pilot said:
We took off from St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands for a 4-hour flight to Washington Dulles airport. At roughly 0055 ET I began seeing slow pulses of light in the sky directly in front of us. The pulses would last usually 8-10 seconds each and had gaps of darkness lasting anywhere from 10 seconds to over a minute.
They were slowly moving from left to right. The pulses would be gradual (start very dim and grow into a bright light about the brightness of Venus, and then fade away). As an airline pilot, I am positive I was not seeing other airliners. Very few civilian aircraft can fly above 41,000 feet, and the objects were about 10 degrees above the horizon from our perspective.
I was not able to tell the distance of the object from our aircraft, but in the 35+ minutes we watched, they never seemed to get any closer even though we covered about 250 nautical miles in that time. For this reason I believe they were in either the upper atmosphere or in space … As a former fighter/attack pilot I am extremely familiar with capabilities of modern aircraft, and I am 100% we were not seeing military aircraft or flares.
Interesting? Certainly. Little green men zooming around the lower atmosphere? Probably not. But, still, it’s fun to watch and imagine what might be out there.
Sure, it’s possible that aliens were flying around Wilmington, North Carolina. Maybe they wanted a beach vacation. But it seems more likely that it was a secret military aircraft; Lockheed Martin’s Skunkworks makes some seriously cool military technology and innovations. What if we’re just getting an early glimpse at a replacement for the Blackbird?
