Ask yourself a simple question. We all know who Rosie O’Donnell is, considering she’s been a fairly prominent celebrity for almost four decades. But examine the logic behind her celebrity status and ask yourself: Why? Why is Ms. O’Donnell famous at all?
At one point in the 1980s, O’Donnell had a modest career as a comedian, but we dare you to come up with one memorable, laughable joke or bit that she performed. She had her own talk show for a few years, and then famously played the role of the most-left host of the insufferable program known as The View, but again, aside from perhaps a few antagonistic moments of ignorance, can you remember anything worthwhile Ms. O’Donnell ever brought to the table during that stint?
Rack your brain, if you must, but chances are your efforts will be for naught. Rosie O’Donnell’s stardom is less justified than any of the Kardashians, or Jenners, or whatever. Exactly what Rosie’s talents are is a mystery. But there is one aspect of O’Donnell’s persona that does bring us value and is indisputable. When Rosie O’Donnell weighs in on politics, she exposes the inner-most intricacies of the Hollywood and Democratic Party mindset. O’Donnell is the id of America’s left, and she gave us additional insight into that phenomenon again this week.
According to Newsweek regarding a social media back-and-forth discussing former President Donald J. Trump, O’Donnell explained:
“’OK, so we’ve proved to the citizens of the United States that no one is above the law,’ O’Donnell said on TikTok. ‘Trump’s home raided and [the FBI] seized 15 boxes. A lot of boxes seized. So, you know, there’s no civil war today, by the way. I looked around and there’s no civil war happening.
She went on, ‘So I think America has come to understand his true essence and he doesn’t have quite the following that he used to and people have woken up to the illusion of Donald Trump. Because that’s what it was—an illusion created by Mark Burnett on The Celebrity Apprentice that he was somehow some sort of successful businessman, which he never was.
‘He got all his money from his dad, who was a slumlord, and his company was mostly logo-slapping, not building,’ O’Donnell said.”
What we perhaps notice first about O’Donnell’s comments is her total dismissal of not only Trump’s success but of truly successful Americans in general. The money Donald Trump got “from his dad” was an investment. And while many mocked Trump for describing his father’s initial capital outlay as “small,” that is indeed what the seven-figure gamble by the elder Trump was.
President Trump took that investment and increased it by orders of magnitude which made him the billionaire he is today. Trump’s is a true American success story and one of which we all should be proud. He worked hard, got himself an outstanding education, ran his businesses wisely, and succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. He didn’t make his money pretending to be someone else on a studio set or telling obnoxious jokes at a comedy club. He worked his ass off and it reaped the rewards. Good for him.
But most noteworthy of O’Donnell’s remarks is her attitude toward “Civil War.” Do you see how this works? She states, “there’s no civil war happening.” Rosie’s detachment from reality is breathtaking. The number of Americans who believe our best days are behind is at record levels. The chasm between left and right in our country is unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes. Our society is on the brink of eruption, but as far as Rosie is concerned, everything is peachy. It’s all hunky dory, don’t you know.
The outrage by tens of millions of Americans in the aftermath of the August 8th assault on democracy known as the ‘Mar-a-Lago Raid’ has left our fragile political stability teetering. But as far as O’Donnell and her Hollywood cronies are concerned, since Trump supporters didn’t launch a true insurrection, since we haven’t launched an actual civil war, that means all is well. This is how Hollywood thinks folks, and it’s also how the Democratic Party views the situation. And it’s disturbing. Are Rosie O’Donnell and the rest of America’s left demanding actual violence before they’ll recognize reality and acknowledge our legitimate concerns? It sure seems that way.
