One of the toughest, if not the toughest, fighter against Dr. Fauci and his depredations has been Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who is always willing to just tear into the squirrely, gravel-voiced tyrant in a lab coat and let him have it. Sen. Paul, a doctor, never backs down, relents, or lets Fauci go. It’s quite fun to watch, a small bit of the revenge we all want on the guy who made our lives a living hell.
And while Fauci’s retiring soon enough, it doesn’t look like Sen. Paul has any plans of relenting now, nor of letting the media-loving NIH Director get away with all he did.
Rather, Sen. Paul is keeping up the attack on Fauci now more than ever, as he showed yesterday when he spoke to Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity, bringing up both the gain of function question and the fight over the cost of what “advice” and recommendations Fauci gave in the early, heady days of Covid.
Speaking on the gain of function issue, Sen. Paul told Hannity that Faucu lied both about the research itself and what he had been told, saying:
“Not only did he lie about the function research, but lied about saying the experts that told him that this was not gain of function research, so we had a hearing on this recently and I have three scientists, and what they said is that experts never told him it was not gain of function because the experts on the committee were never asked to look at this.
“So we said it was not gain a function research in making the super deadly viruses, but the committee never looked at it. The committee that needs to look at the viruses meets in secret and we don’t know their names, but we do know that they have admitted that they have never reviewed the project.
“This is a real problem that could happen again with 6 million people died worldwide from the virus or more and we need to make sure that a lab leak like this never happens again, but the first thing to do is give us the evidence with an objective airing of the truth on this and that’s what is going to happen in November when we win, we are going to investigate every last shred of evidence and [Fauci] will be subpoenaed and will have to testify under oath.”
Senator Paul also blasted Fauci’s dishonesty by describing what actually happened as a result of Fauci’s advice to decision-makers, using what happened with schools as a prime example and saying:
“He has been blatantly dishonest throughout. Take the school situation. I debated. I had a war of words with him over the schools and I said that there is no evidence that children are dying in large numbers. There is no evidence of them being hospitalized in large numbers. The kids need to go back in school. I showed him the charts of Europe. I showed him the charts of Sweden where the kids were still in school and he specifically rebuked it and said, no, the schools must be shut down.
“Now what he is trying to say is that he did not pass a law forcing schools to be shut down, but his advice was transmitted to the public health doctors and all of the Democrat states and the grommet don’t make Democrat governors shut down the schools, some others it too, but it is disingenuous and dishonest; he was in favor of locking the schools down and is now trying to backtrack it. But we have asked him to preserve his records because I believe that he was also involved in covering up the origins of the virus.
“He and many of his friends when they saw the sequence of the rna of the virus said holy cow, this looks like but the Chinese were asking us for research money last year. So we were alarmed from the get-go. But I think that there was a cover-up after they were alarmed about this, trying to cover it up.”
Thank goodness for Senator Paul. Without him, perhaps Fauci would be able to get away with it all.
