Recently, while giving a speech about politics and lamenting how politics have gotten “mean as hell”, a speech that was laughable given that Biden just labeled the MAGA agenda as being “semi-fascism”, Biden took a swipe at Lindsey Graham.
Speaking about a recent comment Senator Graham made about the FBI’s raid on Trump’s MAr-a-Lago residence in which he said that if Trump is indicted then there will be “riots in the streets”, President Biden said:
“No one expects politics to be patty cake . . but the idea that you turn on your TV and see senior senators and congressman saying: ‘If such and such happens, there’s going to be blood in the streets.’ Where the hell are we?”
As reference, Graham was speaking with Trey Gowdy about a double standard of justice that he and many others see, saying that “Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him. There’s a double standard when it comes to Trump.” He then commented that if Trump is indicted after Democrat after Democrat has been let off the hook, many Republicans aren’t going to respond well. In his words:
“I’ll say this, if there’s a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information, after the Clinton debacle … there’ll be riots in the streets.”
So that’s the probably accurate remark that Senator Graham made, one that, in any case, is clearly not a call for violence. And so, Sen. Graham responded vigorously to Biden on FNC’s “Jesse Watter’s Primetime,” shredding the narrative that Brandon was attempting to push about him and saying:
“If you want to talk about political violence, I reject it. I reject it on January 6. I reject it in Portland. I reject it in New York City. So, why don’t you talk, President Biden, to your own Vice President? You know, one way to encourage political violence is to bail out people who attacked the cops on the streets of New York and Black Lives Matter riots?
“The Vice President of the United States’ staff raised money to bail people out of jail who rioted in New York, who attacked the cops, and they went right back to crime. You don’t hear much about that, do you?
“So, what I said Sunday was, America[ns] reject — I reject violence, but I also reject a double standard here.
“I reject violence, but Mr. President, you need to talk to the Vice President of the United States, your Vice President, about bailing out rioters. Doesn’t that encourage violence?”
What Graham is referencing there is Kamala’s support of a bail fund for those arrested while rioting during the George Floyd “summer of love” riots. One of the rioters that the fund she pushed bailed out murdered someone in a road rage incident shortly after being released and was then charged with second-degree murder. The tweet in which Kamala promoted the bail fund is no longer available.
