EV’s are a pipe dream. There, I said it. I worked for over 32 years in the automotive industry for a company that sounds like a Jedi master doll. I know firsthand how expensive, heavy and dangerous just the hybrid batteries are. Imagine an entire bank of them to run the whole vehicle!
The issues surrounding electric cars and their batteries are numerous. They are expensive, will basically eliminate anyone but a dealer to service any issues with the vehicle, there are no real disposal plans in place as far as recycling is concerned, and most all of the materials in the batteries are sourced either in third world countries by children, or by our political enemies. Cool!
That doesn’t account for battery failure, loss of range as they age, and the strain on our energy grid from needing to charge your vehicle or vehicles nightly. It’s just a very bad idea that isn’t going to solve any supposed climate change issues. The focus should be on hybrids, and how to burn gasoline cleaner and more effectively.
I’m sure by this time most people have seen the screenshot burning up social media of the man with the 2012 Chevy Volt that got a shocking 29k dollar bill to get the battery replaced. Most leftists and conspiracy theorists disputed the bill as right-wing propaganda. Wrong again leftists! It’s real and has been confirmed. Check out the shocking details from the Blaze:
A Florida man went viral after he posted a car dealership quote showing it would cost nearly $30,000 to replace the battery in his electric vehicle.
Rob O’Donnell posted the quote, obtained from Roger Dean Chevrolet in Cape Coral, on Twitter last week. The quote includes the cost of the battery (nearly $27,000), the cost of labor ($1,200), and taxes for the repair (more than $1,700).

Pretty good deal, no? The battery alone cost 27 large! How is this possible? That is an 11-year-old car with only 70k miles on it. Is this going to be the norm? It isn’t unusual for people to drive cars that are 15 years old or more. That keeps old vehicles out of landfills and provides lower-cost transportation to poor people. How are we going to keep EVs on the road for more than a decade when the cost to replace a battery is so exorbitant? How are lower-income people going to be able to transition to electric vehicles when they know a double-digit bill to replace a battery is looming? Insane!
The absurd cost led many social media users to question the authenticity of the quote. But the car dealership has confirmed it is legitimate.
“This is an estimate for a 12-year-old vehicle out of warranty and for a battery that is extremely hard to get, due to the older technology of the 12-year-old vehicle. The dealership does not set battery prices,” the dealership explained on Facebook.
But the dealership also defended electric vehicles, claiming the high cost to replace O’Donnell’s battery is related to the car being a decade old.
But as Recurrent Auto explained, the cost to replace an EV battery can still exceed $20,000 for some vehicle models when labor and other costs are calculated.
If this battery technology is hard to get just because the car is ten years old (the dealer said 12-year-old car. I’m no mathematician, but it’s a 2012 and this is 2022), then it can be expected as tech advances that ten years from now the batteries in the cars we are being sold now will be outdated and costly. Again, how are poor people EVER expected to transition to electric vehicles with these types of expected costs?
The short answer is they can’t, and the Democrats couldn’t care less. The green agenda is just that, an agenda. It’s a moneymaking scheme that is being forced onto the American people, and it is destined to fail, and fail big.
The future should be hydrogen, natural gas, and hybrids. Expecting electric vehicles to be the long-term solution is a pipe dream.
