Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) used Tuesday afternoon to announce his and some of his GOP Senate colleagues’ bill that would legislate abortion at a federal level. Speaking at a news conference in D.C., Graham proposed his bill saying it would get America to be “fairly consistent with the rest of the world.”Fox News reports:
Sen. Lindsey Graham Tuesday is announcing a bill to ban abortion after 15 weeks as debate rages over the issue after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this year.
Titled the “Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act,” the legislation comes as Democrats hammer the GOP on the campaign trail over state laws restriction abortions. Graham told Fox News Digital Tuesday morning that his bill is similar to laws in other developed countries and could actually help Republicans running in the midterms.
Graham introduced the bill with some uncomfortable humor, considering the topic, about possessing charts that would present supporting evidence for his bill’s rationale. Among these was the fact that at and after fifteen weeks, doctors administer anesthetics to the in-utero baby – presumably because these developing humans feel pain. If we feel like we must protect babies from pain, then why do we not protect them from murder? Watch as Graham addresses his new bill:

Of note, continues Fox, Graham’s bill includes several carve outs.
Graham’s bill includes several exceptions, including for rape, incest and when a woman’s life is in danger from a pregnancy. It also explicitly bans the prosecution of women seeking abortions.
A criminal penalty of up to five years in prison applies to doctors who perform abortions, according to draft text of Graham’s bill.
Noting that public opinion sides with this vision for protecting American babies, Graham said: “I see this as a responsible alternative to the very radical position by Democratic senators. I can assure that a vast majority of Americans do not support abortion on demand up to delivery.”
“I don’t know what Democratic candidates in these contested states will say about a bill such as mine,” he added. “But I know the American people, or a significant majority, support limiting abortion at 15 weeks.”
He then noted that the timing of this bill will force Democrats running for office to defend their insane and horrific positions, and allows Republican candidates to “expose your Democratic opponent for being incredibly radical on the issue of abortion.”
