America is mad at Brandon. Very mad. Between his ridiculous mandates, absurd policies, obvious senility, and the awful manner in which he has so far handled every issue with which he has been confronted, it’s not hard to tell why: he’s doing a bad job and is somehow doing even worse as time progresses.
But, while the anti-Brandon attitude has been obvious for quite a while, the degree to which Americans are furious with him is gradually expanding.
Further, like Brandon is doing a worse job of governing over time and his already bad decisions have gotten worse and worse, the number of Americans changing their minds and going against Brandon is shooting up faster and faster.
In fact, according to a recent Ipsos poll that asked “Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling his job as President[?]”, Brandon’s disapproval rating shot up by a massive six points in one week. In the words of that poll:
American’s increasing disapproval of Joe Biden’s job performance is apparent this week as just under three in five report disapproving of his performance (56%), up six points from last week (50%).
And while that’s pretty terrible for Brandon, it gets worse. The cumulative effect of that first slow and steady and now skyrocketing trend toward disapproving of him is that his approval rating is at its lowest ever:
Just 41% of Americans approve of his [Biden’s] job performance, the lowest rating for the Ipsos tracker since he was inaugurated.
While the idea of Americans being mad with Brandon isn’t all that surprising given how terribly he’s doing, a surprising note from this poll is that it’s not just Republicans and Independents that disapprove of how Biden is handling things, though they certainly are furious. Rather, the 6 point leap in disapproval of Brandon was the cause of Democrats turning their backs on him, as Ipsos reports:
Waning support among Democrats is driving Biden’s lower approval ratings this week, with an 11 point drop from last week (82%) to 71% this week. Republicans remain extremely critical of Biden, with just 14% reporting they approve. Independents are also dissatisfied, with just one-third (34%) approving this week.
That dropping support among Democrats is very, very bad news for Brandon. It’s expected that Republicans will dislike him, especially because of the 2020 election controversy. Similarly, it was probably expected that his leftist policies would rankle some Independents that are more moderate in outlook.
But, to win anything, he needs the full support of the Democrats. Turnout is the key feature in winning bitterly partisan elections, and if only 70% of Democrats support Brandon right now, that doesn’t bode well for his 2024 chances, if he somehow makes it that long.
Further, it doesn’t bode well for the 2022 midterms, as many Democrats will be associated with Brandon and his policies; if he’s unpopular, they will be too, which will make it even harder for them to somehow overcome the expected 2022 red wave.
