Once again the world gets to see the weak, declining White House and U.S. Congress go back into its symbolic hiding. The Capitol grounds that were subjected to major fencing, policing, and military presence following the Jan. 6th protests, is having the security fence installed once again.
In response to the “People’s Convoy” starting its journey towards Washington D.C., feeble Joe Biden extended the declaration of a Covid “national emergency” to maintain the federal government’s “authority” to violate citizens’ constitutional rights if they deem them a national security threat.
Biden issued the declaration in an executive letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
Dear Madam Speaker: (Dear Madam President:)
Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)) provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless, within 90 days prior to the anniversary date of its declaration, the President publishes in the Federal Register and transmits to the Congress a notice stating that the emergency is to continue in effect beyond the anniversary date. In accordance with this provision, I have sent to the Federal Register for publication the enclosed notice stating that the national emergency declared in Proclamation 9994 of March 13, 2020, beginning March 1, 2020, concerning the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, is to continue in effect beyond March 1, 2022.
The move is similar to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s first-ever invocation of the Emergencies Act which led to the violent police crackdown on Freedom Convoy protesters under martial law.
Without any reason to expect that there will be violence, the U.S. Capitol Police are taking extreme measures for a potential “Freedom Convoy” truck protest heading towards Washington D.C. for Biden’s State Of The Union speech on March 1st.
“Freedom Convoy” truckers have been protesting in Canada for weeks against coronavirus restrictions and vaccine mandates. Capitol Police say they are “aware” of similar protests coming to Washington D.C. and are making plans to both “facilitate”
First Amendment protest activity while working with law enforcement agencies and D.C. National Guard to prepare for Biden’s address. “The United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service have been closely working together to plan for the upcoming State of the Union,” the U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement Friday.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is “aware of potential First Amendment activities” but no application had been submitted to the department, said spokesperson Alaina Gertz.
“As with all First Amendment demonstrations, MPD will be monitoring, assessing and planning accordingly with our local, state, and federal partners,” Gertz said. “We have increased available resources, including the activation of our Civil Disturbance Units, in preparation for these activities.”
Just 2 weeks ago the Department of Homeland Security released their, Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland which warns of increased risk of those who object to the 2020 election results or the government’s handling of COVID.
Key factors contributing to the current heightened threat environment include:
- The proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions:
- For example, there is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19. Grievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021.
Hopefully, this all goes down peaceably with Americans being allowed to demand change in their government without a Trudeau-like spaz session breaking out in DC, like Ottawa, this time ordered by our national embarrassment basement Biden.
