With a growing number of American citizens becoming aware that their federal government is working to bring in millions of foreign nationals, and whose policies are causing huge increases in the cost of energy, contributing to inflation, their desire for change in leadership is giving the GOP hope for 2022.
According to a new Quinnipiac University poll, more U.S. voters want to see the GOP take control of the House and Senate next year.
This poll is more confirmation that the Democrats have an uphill battle ahead of them as they prepare to defend their razor-thin majorities in both chambers.
They were already expected to have difficulty keeping the Congress heading into 2022, given that the party of a new president tends to lose ground in Congress in midterm elections.
Forty-six percent of registered voters say they would rather see Republicans win the House majority in 2022, compared to 41 percent who say that Democrats should retain control in the lower chamber.
It’s a similar case in the Senate. Forty-six percent say they want the GOP to take control of the upper chamber, while 42 percent are hoping for a Democratic majority, the poll found.
Republicans need to net just five seats in the House and only one in the Senate next year to take back control of Congress. The GOP is also expected to benefit from redistricting in several key states that hold the potential to shift the balance of power in the House.
The mid-term elections will be very important for the GOP if they want to regain some checks and balances back in our nation’s capital.
With President Biden’s declining numbers, the Democratic voters might not have a lot of energy next November, possibly swinging the close races over the red side.
In addition, the lack of representation along with increasing taxation might drive a record number of those who love liberty to the polls. “No taxation without representation” originated in the American Revolution, and which expressed one of the primary grievances of the American colonists against Great Britain.
