Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, during a speech that drew massive cheers from the audience at former President Trump’s rally in her home state of Georgia, tore into Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Chasten, his husband.
Tearing into the much disliked and utterly unrespected Transportation Secretary, Rep. Greene said:
“You know what? Pete Buttigieg can take his electric vehicles and his bicycles, and he and his husband can stay out of our girl’s bathrooms.”
Then, turning from Buttigieg to Lia Thomas, the University of Pennsylvania swimmer that drew the right’s ire for dominating women’s swimming after identifying as a woman, Greene said:
“And old Lia Thomas, Lia’s going to have to remember his name is William, and he needs to go back to men’s swimming because we’re going to kick the biological men out of the women’s sports.”

Predictably, the left freaked out after hearing Greene’s speech, calling it “homophobic.”
The “electric vehicles and bicycles” comment is a reference to two of Mayor Pete’s most derided activities: his bike riding and call for Americans unable to afford gas to buy an electric car.
The claim of bike-riding theater is one used to hit Mayor Pete frequently. Discussing on it back in April of 2021, the New York Post reported that:
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was mocked by conservative critics online after a video appeared to show security staffers unloading his bike from the back of an SUV so that he could “ride” to an April 1 Cabinet meeting.
Two SUVs then followed the millennial Cabinet secretary to his meeting as he pedaled off. Full video was posted online by local WFMZ-TV.
Watch that here:
Politifact, for its part, argues that the claims of Mayor Pete’s bike ride being fake are themselves fake, as he ended up riding a few miles.
The other point, the one about electric cars, is similarly used to hit Mayor Pete for being out of touch and fake. Speaking about high gas prices in a speech, he effectively told Americans to just buy an electric car, saying:
“Clean transportation can bring significant cost savings for the American people as well. Last month, we announced a $5 billion investment to build out a nationwide electric vehicle charging network so that people from rural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.”
How those who can’t afford $5 gas can afford an electric vehicle, a vehicle liable to cost tens of thousands of dollars, was left unsaid by Mayor Pete. Rep. Mullin, hitting Buttigieg’s claim as tone-deaf and out of touch in a tweet, said:
Vice President Kamala Harris and DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg spent the afternoon promoting electric vehicles and Green New Deal policies. Are you kidding me?
The Biden Administration could not be more tone deaf.

Indeed. Mayor Pete is a joke, and MTG tore into him brilliantly, exposing just what many Americans think of the former mayor and current Transportation Secretary.
