What effect with the increasingly bad revelations about Hunter Biden have on Slow Joe and his administration? There are two lines of thought. On one hand, some argue that Hunter and Joe weren’t working together, so whatever Hunter did won’t reflect (that) badly on Joe. On the other hand, the revelations are pretty bad and it very well could be that Hunter and Joe were working together, something that many think could spell disaster for Slow Joe.
The first example was perhaps best articulated by the Washington Post (never thought I’d write those words). It, in an article on what has been discovered so far about the Hunter Biden situation, wrote that:
Over the course of 14 months, the Chinese energy conglomerate and its executives paid $4.8 million to entities controlled by Hunter Biden and his uncle, according to government records, court documents and newly disclosed bank statements, as well as emails contained on a copy of a laptop hard drive that purportedly once belonged to Hunter Biden.
The Post did not find evidence that Joe Biden personally benefited from or knew details about the transactions with CEFC, which took place after he had left the vice presidency and before he announced his intentions to run for the White House in 2020.
But the new documents — which include a signed copy of a $1 million legal retainer, emails related to the wire transfers, and $3.8 million in consulting fees that are confirmed in new bank records and agreements signed by Hunter Biden — illustrate the ways in which his family profited from relationships built over Joe Biden’s decades in public service.
So, on one hand, it very well could be true that Biden didn’t know what Hunter was up to, or, even if he did, didn’t benefit from China sending millions to Hunter’s firm. Perhaps Hunter was just collecting cash while Joe bumbled around Delaware. Given Biden’s mental state, maybe that’s what happened.
The other perspective is the one of many conservatives. It’s the idea that Joe did benefit from Hunter’s business activities, receiving a cut of Hunter’s cashing in on the family name. That idea comes from an NYP report back in 2020, a report that claimed one email on the Hunter Biden laptop says “to held by H for the big guy?”. In its words:
Hunter Biden pursued lucrative deals involving China’s largest private energy company — including one that he said would be “interesting for me and my family,” emails obtained by The Post show.
One email sent to Biden on May 13, 2017, with the subject line “Expectations,” included details of “remuneration packages” for six people involved in an unspecified business venture.
Biden was identified as “Chair / Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC,” an apparent reference to the former Shanghai-based conglomerate CEFC China Energy Co.
His pay was pegged at “850” and the email also noted that “Hunter has some office expectations he will elaborate.”
In addition, the email outlined a “provisional agreement” under which 80 percent of the “equity,” or shares in the new company, would be split equally among four people whose initials correspond to the sender and three recipients, with “H” apparently referring to Biden.
The deal also listed “10 Jim” and “10 held by H for the big guy?”
Neither Jim nor the “big guy” was identified further.
So, if the “big guy” is Joe, that email could tie Joe to Hunter’s business deals with China. Similarly, another NYP article claimed that:
In a text to his daughter, Hunter Biden insinuated that he was giving half his salary to “pop.” This is more than hyperbole.
Email records back him up to the extent that they show Hunter’s businesses paying some of his father’s bills while he was vice president of the United States. This means that Joe Biden benefited from these financial deals that happened courtesy of executives linked to Chinese spies.
Both of those NYP claims, if true, could prove to be a major problem for the Biden family. Jack Posobiec summed that idea up in a recent tweet, saying:
“Hunter is the bagman for the Biden family who holds the money. This is what people need to understand. They aren’t just protecting him, they’re protecting the family”

Posobiec is known for having “receipts” (proof) of what he claims, so perhaps that assertion is accurate. More proof is probably needed to prove it, however. While Hunter’s activities are now known beyond a doubt, Joe’s connection isn’t as set in stone as it needs to be. Still, it very well could be true.
