Elon Musk Takes His Model Mom To Star-Studded Met Gala

Billionaire and new Twitter-owner Elon Musk made his debut appearance in public since his take-over of the social media giant at the star-studded Met Gala last night.

Elon, 50, was accompanied to the New York event by his mom, Maye, 74, who is a Canadian-South African model. The Tesla CEO looked relaxed as he laughed and joked on the red carpet alongside his glamour mom.

Of course, his Twitter takeover seemed to be the main topic of conversation for the media and celebrity guests alike. He was quizzed by TV personality La La Anthony upon his arrival about his Twitter plans:

My goal, assuming everything gets done, is to make Twitter as inclusive as possible and to have as broad a swathe of people on Twitter as possible,” Elon responded.

“And that it is entertaining and funny and they have as much fun as possible”.

When asked about his outfit, Elon quipped he was “just following the dress code”.

Sporting a fitted black suit and a white bow-tie, Elon cut a suave figure next to his mom, who looked striking in a long dark-red velvet gown, a gold Dior bag and a chunky pearl necklace.

The richest man on Earth had fun cheekily posing for the red-carpet cameras, blowing kisses and pulling faces as he linked arms with Maye.

It isn’t the first time Elon has attended the event with his mom, who said of her son “from the moment he could talk, he could discuss”.

She has been modelling since the age of 15 and has enjoyed a successful career – including a racy, nude cover-shoot for Time magazine in 2011.

At one point in the evening, Elon stopped for a chat with fellow billionairess Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Kim turned heads as she walked the red-carpet in the same dress that was worn by Hollywood golden-girl Marilyn Monroe 60 years ago, but the 41-year-old reality star changed into a replica once inside the event to preserve the original garment.

The original shimmering gown was designed by Jean Louis and had previously been on display in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum before it was snatched up by Julien’s Auction for an eye-watering $4.81 million.

The group seemed to be in a heated and animated discussion as they stood in a huddle next to a table at the Manhattan event. Elon has previously expressed an admiration for the Kardashian clan.

In January he wore a pair of Kanye West’s Yeezy 500 High Slate sneakers as the pair posed for a photo together, and in 2015, he said of rapper, who is Kim’s ex-boyfriend:

“Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity – he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut – got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose.”

As Elon was asked how he felt about Monday night’s Gala, he said:

“I feel great actually.

“It’s exciting to see all these looks.

“And what we have here is the most talented people in style and fashion – and it’s the pinnacle of their work.

“I’m honored to be here and it’s lovely”.
