Elon Musk recently announced that he disagrees with the platform’s decision to kick off Trump and would let the former president back on if Trump wants to come back, saying:
“I think it was a morally bad decision to be clear and foolish in the extreme. I guess the answer is I would reverse the perma-ban.
“I do think it was not correct to ban Donald trump I think that was a mistake … It alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”
Predictably, all seven people still employed by failing CNN lost their minds over the incident and were running around like their hair was on fire, with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota going crazy and saying that Musk can “escape to space” and leave “earthlings” to deal with the problem if he lets Trump back on.
Specifically, Camerota, after listening to Brian “The Potato” Stelter start whining about the idea of letting Trump back on Twitter, said:
“I think that Elon Musk just knows that he himself can escape to space, and the rest of us earthlings will have to deal with this. That’s my take on it.”
Stelter, for his part, suggested that Trump getting back on social media might actually hurt him, saying:
“Will Trump benefit from being able to tweet again, or will it actually hurt him? I don’t think any of us have any idea.”
it was obviously a joke, but shows the apocalyptic way in which Democrats view free speech: what Republican thinks going to Mars to escape the YouTube drivel pushed by the Young Turks would be reasonable? No one.
But the left is so fearful of free speech that they joke about having to travel to another planet to escape the consequences of it.
We’ll see what happens if and when Musk does finally take over the platform, particularly as it regards the social media network’s censorship policies and permabans.
Perhaps Elon will live up to his yuge promises, perhaps not. Either way, it can hardly be worse than it’s been under Dorsey and Parag, both of whom have shown a special fondness for the censorship button.
However, even if the worst dream of the leftists is realized and free speech returns to the platform, it’s doubtful that anything will happen that will cause Elon to flee to Mars in one of his space ships. Free speech doesn’t do that, particularly when coming from an anti-war president like Trump.
Camerola might think that Trump will end the world by tweeting about Jeb! Bush at 2 am, but was the risk of nuclear war with the Russkies higher and lower with him at the helm than it now is with Slow Joe running things? Putin didn’t seem to mention nukes so often back then, nor did he invade neighboring countries…
Perhaps that’s the bigger threat than mean jokes on Twitter and is what CNN should be worried about.
